With chickens I mean?

I talk chickens, dream of chickens, love my chickens. My hubby, eh, not so much. He grew up on a small family farm and had to do chicken (and cow, and pig) stuff all his childhood. He doesn't see the joy in it other than fresh eggs. He does remark on the advnacements on my coop cmpared to his parents. (Like DLM, or hanging waterers....) He puts up with it, grumbles a bit when the hens don't produce as much as they are eating, supports me, but not loves it.

So, is your chicken love multiplied in your home?

Fortunately my husband loves me in spite of my obsession with chickens. He is very helpful when it comes to building coops/runs and will pitch in on the daily care if I am not able, otherwise...like MY dogs, they are also MY chickens, of course he loves the fresh eggs

His obsession is saltwater reef tanks and I tolerate that and pitch in as needed so...I'd call it even!

Well, I've just gotten married....but, no, my husband doesn't love chickens like I do LOL but at least I don't have to worry about him trying to eat any of them...he's allergic to chicken!

My wife hasn't started to "love" the chickens yet, but what she does love is seeing me outside working with them and also seeing our oldest daughter getting attached to one of them.

My husband is an amazing man but he isn't a chicken person. He'll build coops and runs, feed them when I'm gone, and has even cleaned my coops for me when I was sick but he still thinks they're "just chickens" and considers my obsession with them a personality quirk.

I always said I would never get married.....I was planning on being the old crazy lady with all the animals that lives on the corner LOL. I have turned out to be the crazy lady married to the crazy guy with all the animals on an acre and a half! LOL. Sometimes the hubby tries to act like he does'nt like the birds but he is the one that built the second coop for "his" birds and we also have three turkeys and he has been asking me since we got them when we get to eat one, I got them as just pets......one of the hens took after me about a week ago (she has been getting more and more aggressive over the past couple months) and left a good sized bruise and small cut on the back of my leg so I said here is your chance honey you can go ahead and butcher her if you want. Well....she is still following me around every morning for her food. It's a good thing I have a great Blue Heeler that body slams her whenever she is on the attack :)

Just had to reply on this!

This weekend, my husband was burning trash and watching the chickens. He dared tell me that I need to get rid of my favorite rooster because he and the peacock were chasing each other around and disrupting the rest of the flock.

This became a two hour argument. I explained that it is NORMAL chicken behavior and how dare he try to take something away from me that I love so much... he agreed that he was wrong and he should keep his nose out of it.

He likes to complain about my chickens, but also just talks and talks to anyone who comes over about those chickens and my pair of pea's. He is also famous for saying... "You need any eggs? We have plenty.".

I think he just likes to hear noise coming from his mouth... so his statements really don't matter!
