Whew so glad to hear they are nursing , those first few lip smacks are the best sound in the world isnt it? so glad to hear this,
yes nursing will contract the uterus expelling the remaining plecentas.

My dog was spayed after a c section and they are still able to produce milk and take care of their babies. I know I didn't know that either and was surprised.

Where momma kitty is so run down and scrawney right now I wouldnt take the chance spaying her. I dont think the vet will either , she is too unhealthy yet to under go the surgerry.
she needs to bring in a good amount of milk first then the odds will be better.

Wow. Now that I think this is done and I feel like everything might be okay, it was sort of exciting! I have never seen any animal have so many problems in labor though. I think I would have panicked If I didn't have all of you guys here to help and give advice. I sort of panicked anyways but it was a controlled productive panic! Can you imagine if she didn't come to my house and just had them outside? Its still very cold here in Ontario and drops below freezing at night. They would have all died for sure and maybe mommy too. It gets me teary eyed. Poor baby. She needed help and found it. She must be a smart kitty.

UH OHHHHH ! I see an attachment coming lol.
You are right though had she not found you she would have certainly lost the kittens and likely her life.
You held up very well , I could sense urgency buut not panick. You are awesome under fire. now go get that well deserved drink.
I am enjoying a Baileys Irish Creme coffee at the moment.
