Arghh, another drop off. In labour? update. help now please!

we had two drop off cats. the first one was sitting on a stoll in the goats pen. the other one was a grey kitten with a large soar on his nexk. it was open and very infected. we thought he was goin to die. we needled him ourselves and made a gause to put on it. then he started to scratch so it kept opening. we made little mittins for his feet. we cut them from finger mittens and taped them around his paws. he slowy got better. now he is a full grown cat. he is gorgeous as ever. very nice short haired gray color. and loves attention. still is missing a little fur by the opening scar.

I agree that they would be better of being socialized with your family and pets and accustomed to using a litter box.
I wish you luck with your new babies

You wouldn't believe the drop offs we have had over the years. I had someone drop off a Siamese mix about 4yrs ago. He was an adult and wasn't neutered. HMM I bet he started spraying so someone dumped him. He's fixed now and has never sprayed which is lucky as I hear once they start spraying neutering them is less likely to stop it than if you neuter before they start to spray. But the strangest, someone dropped a hamster in a cage at the end of my drive way. Strange what some people will do to their pets.

Tarraann,
be thankfull I guess its only prego cats and kittened mommas and a hampster, I have come hme to birds in cages on my step, tripped over rabbit cages going into my garage, snakes in boxes (marked as such) inside the door way, and kittens, cats left in the drive way, last trip out I came home to a box of chickens.

my house is a litteral zoo. some have been rehomed some have stayed forever.

I do understand the wants to bring them inside though and I agree to a point, just dont get too attached. this economy is hard on everyone, and people dumping their animlas have left a lot of us with the moral delemia of putting them down or finding new homes,
Is it fair, hell no but we can only do what we can do and hope for the very best.
ETA: yeah I have SAP SUCKER permenently tattooed on my forhead I guess lol

Good for you for doing what you can for all these kitties! I just want to add that you should definitely encourage anyone who takes any kittens to get two of them! Two cats is not much more work than one, and they love to play with each other, sleep together, and will provide constant entertainment with their antics. I got two litter mates 3 years ago, and it was a great decision! Then you only have to find half as many homes! (And two cats working together do wonders on any rodent problems!!)

Same thing for some breeds of dogs, e.g., Welsh corgis, big dogs with short legs. One corgi would drive you nuts; they're so active, loving, and always in need of attention from some human or some thing; with two corgis they entertain each other and spend "some" time out from under your feet.

Yeah its so hard when someone drops their problems on you. Unfortunately this is it. My husband and I have decided that we will do what we can for these two mamas and litters but we can't take in any more. If any more show up while we still have these ones I will have to bring them to the SPCA. I think the SPCA does good work here its just they are so full they are putting many cats to sleep every day so I feel like if I bring them there they don't even have a chance. The kittens might but the moms being adults probably would be euthanized. I'm going to take and post some pics of the newest mama and babies. If you guys would try to help me guess the age of that litter so I know about when they can go to knew homes, thanks.
