You are on a roll! Are you now doing haiku for your patients?

How is the indoor roo working out? Your pics and videos are soooo adorable!

So far so good

Elvis is a great little roo, and even when he crows, it's really quiet. He would probably be fine outside, but Karsen loves having him in his room, so it's good. He's having a crow fest right now - den window is open - LOL!

How exciting!!!! I think I'm going to have to set up the xtra large dog crate and use cardboard on the sides so they can't get out. I don't think my little brooder will be big enough if I get a good hatch (have 21 that were all going strong at lockdown, of course may only get one or two and the little one will be fine - hoping to need the dog crate

We had one for the chihuahuas (still extra large size), and then when we got our lab he came with one ... so now have two extra large dog crates in garage. Tank, does NOT like being crated, he can bend it and break out. His first owners kept him crated all of the time, happily no crate for him here. When we got him, he had owies from being crated too much - tail owies and bleeding lick granulomas. He's all happy now, but still pretty much blind!

Yay! Now check for adult beetles. They have white/clear wing covers when they first emerge, and in the next few days it darkens to black. My adult beetle beds are similar to larvae beds (wheat bran and a banana peel) but with a half sheet of paper towel on top to lay eggs on.

I put a little bit of bran in with the pupae, in case an adult gets the munchies before I move him/her out. Darkling beetles can be cannibalistic.

All of you in the Phoenix area:

My Peoria/Sun City grandmother's blind, elderly, asthmatic Pug got out today, because someone left the gate open. Grandma has poor vision and couldn't go far to find it. After a long search by her helper who checks on Grama daily, it was discovered that the folks on the corner caught it, put it in their HOT garage, and called Animal Control, who killed it immediately because it was, "breathing funny."

Does anyone know of a Pug rescue in the area that doesn't charge hundreds of dollars, require 6 pages of paperwork and check on the animals regularly? Grama wants a new dog and can even take a blind, elderly dog, but she's on a fixed income, 85, tired and doesn't want strangers in her house once a month.

I feel so badly for her- what a horrible thing this ridiculous Animal Control department did. It was a clean, well-groomed, trained, elderly dog in obviously well-kept condition. How DARE they not give the owners some time or seek a vet's opinion on the breathing. I'm livid and very sad. That dog was her only companion!

BAD WORDS!!! MANY LOUD BAD WORDS!!!

Oh, I'm sooo sorry, how terrible they couldn't even be bothered to contact your grandma or a vet first. The only pug rescue I know if is AZ pug rescue, but they charge a lot. You might try contacting Jill Lenz [email protected] she runs a dog rescue and also is contacted by many people who need to rehome their dogs.

Thank you!

I emailed Jill and sent the Craigslist ad to my mom, who is having fits about this...she's got to be the one to make the arrangements, because she is one generation of control freak above me...that trumps my control-freakedness.

I'm just beside myself. I want to raise holy heck. What kind of an idiot does that sort of thing? What Pug doesn't breathe funny?

That's awful, just awful. No words to express my sorrow for your grandmother. Losing a pet is hard enough, losing it to stupidity and callousness is just heartbreaking.
