Arizona Chickens

That was my idea. That little bus would be wicked cute!

I let the chicks out this morning, fed the people-kids, and then we watched the chickens for a while. Then the neighbor yelled over the fence, asking if I had a turkey in my yard.

???

Her property is only an alley away...I had never heard a turkey making noises over there. Anyway, no turkey to be found. The dogs were out last night, so if it did come in our yard, I would expect a pile of feathers.

I noticed one of the EE hens(?) acting funny. She is puffed up like shes cold, walking stiffly/cautiously, and not able to jump-fly-run like the rest of the flock. I didn't hear any wheezing/rattling, and no visible discharge from eyes/nose.

I am working from home today, so I won't be able to check her out for a while. I haven't been around any other chickens or introduced anyone new (that I didn't hatch myself). Even the hatcholings are 4 weeks old. Maybe she fell off the roost and bonked herself? She is one of the EEs that likes to shove herself up under the BO, even though she is much too large for that now.

Ideas?

I vote for making the bus into a chicken coup.

That is what one of my other sons says to do with it. I saw an old panel van cut in half and made into a coop. It was so Neat. That is when I thought the bus would make a great coop. I have given him another year to get it out of here or ELSE.

I could add it to Peep Town USA

A whole year, you are generous.

My two cents, since my mother won't store stuff for me and is pretty clear on that policy: Just remember, people love to have you store stuff for them. If I recall correctly, when my grandparents passed away and my mother and her siblings cleaned out the house, wedding gifts from some of the siblings weddings 20 years prior were still there in storage. 20 years.

Having 6 children i have stored something of everyone. I am down to the last, Baby son. He has moved to Va after getting out of the Army.I have cut him some slack. He also has an old chev. pickup Truck at my house. I gave it to son John for his B-day for a xtra work truck. He then gifted it to Son Tom for a job bonus. It fit him better as he has shorter legs and the seat in the pickup is back as far as it can go. Said truck is in good shape. I said that it could stay longer. it is not in my way. I love that truck. I am a sucker for classic trucks and cars. Poor excuse but a fact. Sooooooo here they set at Mom's house. The good part is all stored stuff is outside.

Hello everyone,

I am asking for prayers and/or good thoughts for my DH who has been unemployed since December.

He had a job interview today, and he thought it went well, but there were over 200 applicants. Most don't have the experience he has, so he is hoping that will help him get the job. The company has very good benefits which would really help us out.

I work full-time, and have recently taken on a part-time job to help with the bills, so this job is really needed.

Thanks!!!

Angie

Angie-

I am praying, crossing the fingers and toes, and doing the rain dance too!

I know your pain--DH has been working for his dad for FREE since Dec, because FIL cannot afford to pay him. How about this: I'll pray for yours if you kick mine in the pants?

I Finally found the ARIZONA people!

Hello everyone! I'm in Safford. I am very new to chickens ( so new that the first time I actually saw a real live chicken was about 9 years ago) but so far am loving it! I have two Easter Eggers, two Dominiques and one Sumatra mix. My kids are obsessed. My son has named them all, and says that we aren't allowed to eat the first egg, he wants to keep it!
Any way it's late I was just so happy

Oh, and I need all the help I can get with raising chickens, so if you think of anything that might help me I'm all ears!

Tonapah Pati, my mother had an old 1941 Plymouth that she used as a chicken coop. When we sold the home place, we sold the Plymouth for about four times what my parents paid for it when they bought it.

Of course, the hens has made a mess of it, but I guess chicken poop preserved it. I couldn't believe it was the same car after they cleaned it up.
