Arizona Chickens

the making of a green chile and cheese corn tamales
same process as before but rather than sugar they
have salt then we grill the green chiles then add
slices of green chile and cheese they are usually special
ordered and we wait till atleast five people order them
or we do a five dozen minumum they cost more because
we also have to purchase the green chiles and cheese
is expensive we usually have been selling them at 20
a dozen because they also have to be cook seperate
from the ones with sugar we use monterey jack cheese
or cheese from mexico it depends on the persons
favorite cheese also

commercial hatcheries breed only for egg production
i speak to a poultry judge from south carolina and
he said hatchery chickens are automatically disqualified
in the state of south carolina they can take them to the
show but he said if the people are not going to do the
work and research of knowing what is a true show quality
chicken then they are going to waste their time at the show
the poultry is judge by the poultry association book
private breeders have done their work to breed for the
standard of what is a show quality bird and that is why
the eggs are more expensive and the chicks or chickens
are most expensive

this is a good question if a hatchery chicken can be a good show chicken
feed stores sell hatchery chickens i did see at the maricopa county fair
show that people took hatchery birds

I think a lot of it depends on the breed.

I took an Ideal Hatchery buff bantam brahma hen to the Cochise County fair in '09. She won "Best Feather-Legged Bantam" over at least 12 silkies and cochins. So, maybe not American Poultry Association grand champion show quality, but I think show quality nonetheless.

On the other hand, some of my hatchery Delawares are just UGLY.

Easterish Babies. Some hatched a bit before, some a bit after, all brooded together.

Like I need another 4-week crower.

i have done alot of research and up to this date i have not found a hatchery that sell show quality
chickens only pet quality chickens you may save money but if anyone wants their kids to do 4h
and go to the poultry show i highly recommend a private breeder do some research on the
breed you want to use also research on some private breeders that have these breed
they may be expensive but they are worth it and remember before making a purchase
do alot of research private breeders will help you with any questions you have
when you see an auction here at byc and you are not sure if they are
hatchery or show quality you can always ask the breeder before bidding

it can depend on the breed or how many chickens their is at the showof that certain breed
or if there is not much competition of that breed at the county fair there was not that much competition
say for example if maybe for state fair their is more competition so far we have
been buying from breeders that go to the nationals so its worth it
the extra money they take chickens at the nationals from the
whole united states their is big competition at the nationals
its worth it doing research and investing more money to have
a chance to a better prize

Sounds like blossom end rot. Causes: uneven watering. I have also heard that if you put crushed eggshell at the bottom of the transplant hole it will help.
