Arizona Chickens

Hey Y'all,

Serious request here... the Monument Fire is showing no signs of easing up, so people in the south Sierra Vista/east Hereford area of Cochise County are evacuating. It's a rural area = lots of livestock. I just took in about 50 chickens, six turkeys, six geese, and a duck, and I'm maxed out.

Point of contact for livestock rescue is Ann Jost at 520-559-2224. They have some volunteers to help haul, but we lost 3 chickens (probably 4) in this group because they were basically shoved into a horse trailer and were trampled/smothered on the way over.

SO - if you're nearish to the area and can take in some birds - especially if you can haul them safely - please give her a call.

Thanks, y'all - I love you!!!

Bryan

ETA found out Ann's last name.

We have an APO meeting Saturday morning, so I don't think I can make it

But you're welcome to come to the meeting at 9:30. Email me for directions if you're interested.

We'll be planning our Fall and February shows, and talking about trying to keep the chickens cool and healthy during hot summer weather.

I'd love to come but may have to get home to the kidlets. And the incubator.

Kidlets are welcme. The incubator (or really the eggs) would probably prefer to stay home and plugged into its wall socket.

Sun has been up for an hour already. But it wasn't cool outside like it normally is. 110 yesterday. Should only hit 106 today.
DS#5 was dropped off with the scout troop for his "high adventure" campout up in the mountains... the ones that haven't been charred.

BBL- Bearded Buffed Laced
WCB- either White Crested Black or White Chrested Blue

TWO?

like I said, she's been sold.

I let all the Marans out yesterday, hoping that having more room would help the roosters do their thing.
I separated the two roos.

Still wonder if the Icelandic roo is getting the job done

More prayers for the folks down south. I feel so badly for these folks in the line of fire.

It was so funny last night. I shoudl have took a picture. I went out to put hte girls up. I waited until much later than I usually do to see if htey would put them selves up. I was surprised they were all in the coop. The Aloha hen was on top of the of the nesting box on one side of coop, the 2 Aloha Pullets were on top of the nesting box on hte otehr side, and then all 15 of the chicks were inside of one nesting box just piled in. There were 2 empty boxes and the roost.
