Any idea why your hens don't like it?? I was thinking of doing something similar if/when this last coop ever gets finished.

I think it has a lot to do with the heat in the coop although it's the same as it is outside, just no puddles for them to stand in. The dog has a bowl of water just outside the coop and they all just drink out of that. I also think if one could start them out as chicks drinking from the nipples then it would be smooth sailing as adults; kinda an old dog new tricks thing. I just need to spend some time out there and almost force them to use it. I know it's cooler water.

My bunch took right to them. Go figure. What a relief to get rid poopy waterers. I did notice that I had to raise them a bit as the pullets got bigger.

X-2 it is like they grow up knowing about them.....

That was fun, maybe it will start cooling off soon too. Silly me I had just enough time to get to the music store for DDs school book and since they said it was by Chick fe whatever I went to the wrong one.

That is what I'm hoping as well. I'm also hoping the nipples get here before the chicks!

My chickens did fine with the nipples for awhile but they prefer to drink from a bowl or puddle. We went a few months where they had that option and forgot how to use the nipples.

Well I'm going to be doing what a lot of others are doing and that is decreasing the size of the flock. I'll be putting them on craigslist later so if anyone wants anything let me know. All are close to 2 years old, some just over some just under and just hatchery stock. The list consists of 2 RIR,2 SS,BO,DEL,EE,JG,. I will also have some roos in the future but my kids won't let me sell them just yet, they're still young and not annoying yet.
And a jacuzi drop in oval jetted tub.

Ooh, I used to have just the skin of a six foot rattler, with the rattles, mounted on a nice, finished board and shellacked. It looked really nice in the log home I had in OK. Even without a head it looked nice.
