Arizona Chickens

Don't think I haven't thought of it and more evil things. But, they have no personality...there is no lawn. Ugly but clean crushed granite. No bushes, the mandatory one (per the HOA) tree. Not a rock out of place.

However, the street side of the stucco'd block wall is badly in need of paint. HOA responsible. Like the rusting park bench in the play area that needs replacing.

Oh guys, I'm just warming up
They poked a dragon
Bad idea by dumb people

When was the last time the play structures were inspected for safety? If the BENCH is rusting, goodness knows how well the structure is holding up. And for what it is worth, commercial-quality play structures are H-U-G-E-L-Y expensive. And for a semi-public park, a commercial quality set is necessary. I know from experience that the manufacturers will provide absolutely no warranty for a non-commercial quality set installed in a semi-public park. Also, is the play surface is sand, how recently was it "stirred" to keep it soft, and is there sufficient sand to provide a safe fall zone?

Now she's going to kick them where it hurts!

Guess who's back, back again...

I'm actually sad that there were no "Free TT!" threads. I thought you guys would riot for me!

I'm very visual so I appreciate the pics and sizes. I've always used a cardboard box and creatively added on as they grew but I think the tote is the way to go this time. I think I saw a little tutorial one time on making the lid for one. Off to find it.

Do you need a lid? I was just going to leave it uncovered in the tub...

I use a grate or screen, mainly to keep the cats out. Also, some of them get quite good at hopping around two weeks, if still in there. I like to give them a little roost a few inches up. Seems to teach them to roost for when they go out in the big coop. They love playing on the roost.

TTs back!

I can't believe I'm getting 19 chicks in 10 days. We haven't even finished eating the ones from May! We're getting 6 meals plus 7 quarts of stock off one Cornish X.
I can hardly wait to start getting fresh eggs. It seems like it takes forever, doesn't it?

Wow, ten more Cornish and six red broilers. I'm glad I bought a huge freezer last month from Craigs List!
Oh, Ideal is out of Buttercups. I tried to add a couple.

Could you put some moringa seeds in the box for me, Meg?

I'm sure your out by now Meg, but after reading all the good links from Mikey it sounds very interesting. If by some chance there happens to be a lonely pod hanging around somewhere I'll gladly give it a home.

Hey!!!

DON'T BE FOOLED BY THIS AD!!! This is just nutszoid.

Everyone knows that to tell the sex of chicks you have to hold the chickens by what would be the scruff of their neck and see if their legs dangle. Separate out the leg curlers, boys one and all. Then put the pullet chicks upside down (laying on their back) in the palm of your hand. If they struggle, put them with the other boys. Then take the remaining pullet chicks and (one at a time) put them in a brooder with two bowls of water. if they drink from the left one they are boys, pull 'em out.

This method is GUARANTEED to be effective on all pullets ordered from large hatcheries that sex their pullet chicks. Of course there is a small margin for error. Say +/-50%.
