@cap1717...we were on Fox 10 "Cory's Corner". I have a listing on Local Harvest, I sell my meat birds (we are a super small operation though...only raising 50 meat chickens at once). They found me through there, and asked about chicken keeping stuff. There's a link...I'll post it.

It was great to finally see someone saying something positive in the local media about chickens. There are so many misconceptions and misunderstandings about raising them and I think you did a wonderful job representing how wonderful it can be. I love the fact that you allowed your children to be present to show that it is OKAY for the kids to be around the birds as well. Too many people in the general public tend to think that chickens are nasty, smelly, disease ridden animals. Thank you so much for speaking up here as well so that we could all give you the praise you most definitely deserve.

Spent most of the day yesterday, modifying a cage I had in the Atrium.( Wee Ones Pen). The Chicks were running around after each other. J.umping and tight rope walking on and off of the different roost branches. I just can't get enough watching them at play.

I just realized that my Silkie is a Sultan. Pure White. I have never had either one, so to pick out a baby is hard unless you know what you are doing. He had a little nub of feathers on top of his head, so I took a chance. He turned into a handsome little guy. I love him. What a hair do.

I found a Sultan thread on BYC. There are just a few owners. Boy oh boy would I ever love to get a white and a black pullet for this guy. I think I feel Chicken Fever hitting me again.

Hi Martin and congrats on yur babies! How do you cull them? I would not have the heart to do that.

I have not been on line lately. My Aunt passed away two days before Thanksgiving and I have not had much time or energy.

It is rough going into the Holidays with a death. Plus the fact my mother diesd 10 years ago, on Dec 21 and it is always a hard time for me.

Enough of that. So how are the five chicks you took for us? Chloe was wondering if we can take a drive out one day during Christmas break to see them? I told her I would email and ask you. Even hubby is wondering how Speckles is doing.

I had a friend in Gilbert die last Saturday. I'm going to his funeral this Saturday.... he had 5 kids ages 19-12. Just laid down last Saturday night and died. Too bad he didn't die the week before, at least it would have been November, but I guess that would make Thanksgivings bad.

I've actually got 29 pullets. 7 have never laid... We were getting 14 to 17 a day.. .Now we are down to about a dozen a day.
