Arizona Chickens

Ummmm the seed box should be renamed the seed tub I am thinking....

This is great and what a selection with some really cool stuff as well. Met ca and her really cool horse today and it is always nice to put a face with a forum name.

OK one question.... What are the seeds in the water bottle???????????????????????????

I will go through this HUGE selection of (ca'c quote) "enough seeds to plant all of Arizona" and pass it on with some of my own additions.

Did I mention it is a very cool thing we are doing and hopefully the tub-o-seed will make the rounds over and over and over......

Thanks to all involved and especially the instigator.....

Here is our 3 peepers in their make shift toilet brooder box, a Salmon Faverolle, Lav Orpington, and an English BBS Orpington named Chumlee ( has a wider back end and kinda clumsy).

Cleaned out the "Tub-O-Peepers" in preparation for the trip to grandma's.

See'n as how only ONE of All'Y'all responded to my trip to grandma's post!

Thanks Kev!

It was unanimous! We're taking peepers to grandmas!

and on a side note...

Tracy - are your Cornish looking a tad on the "ratty" side? Nearly bald underbellies & the like...

I'm guessing that because they are perpetually squatting in unmentionables they all look a tad bit unkempt but after picking up the Cornish for the cleaning I noticed they are quite nasty looking.

Top side of Cornish - not ratty at all - just balding

Bottom side of Production Red - a tad bit ratty, just not as bad as the Cornish

Top side of Production Red - a bit O-Ratty by her neck - I just figure someone pooped on her (That's disgusting!)

I'm guessing and hoping that this is normal. Yes?

It is so good to see you back! That's fantastic about the move--good for you! Hang in there, moving is one of the most stressful things you'll do in your life. I know what you mean about filled garages. We filled ours with boxes and what-not when we moved in here four years ago and it is still filled. So many more fun things to do. Good luck with getting everything moved.

ca, I hope your MIL is O.K.!

Mikey D, I love the man tools you have! Was that a chipper I saw in one of the pics?

Critter, I got mung beans at Sunflower that very day I posted about sprouts. I'm going to try the jar method on them until I can get a sprouter. I read a lot about sprouts after that and I can't believe I haven't done this before.

southerndesert, I'm looking forward to seeing the seed tub again too! Hopefully, we can keep it circulating for at least a few rounds before folks lose interest. I suspect it will be more interesting with every person that gets it.

kevs-chickadees, Awe...cute little sleepers.

Wow!
They've grown!

I hope they have a good trip to grandma's!

I've never had chicken chicks, so I have no guess as to what's going on with them. but to me it just looks like matted down.

thanks Gallo!

Note: two males : zero females

I showered!...

Take them to Grandma's.... On the chicks, are they getting wet on their belly somehow? Or is the bedding wet? We use pine shavings in the brooder so don't know much about rice hulls, but ours stay nice and fluffy unless we get a spill or something.
