thanks Gallo!

Note: two males : zero females

I showered!...

Take them to Grandma's.... On the chicks, are they getting wet on their belly somehow? Or is the bedding wet? We use pine shavings in the brooder so don't know much about rice hulls, but ours stay nice and fluffy unless we get a spill or something.

Or are the outgrowing their ability to produce feathers fast enough to keep up? They grow really really fast, right?
Did that make sense? When I was 16 I had my tonsils and adenoids out and I went from Twiggy to Sophia Loren in 3 months. I grew so fast that my skin couldn't keep up and I'm wondering if something similar is taking place.

I'm pooped. Used a foot spike aerator on half the front lawn and raked and I'm pooped out, hot tired and headachy. And not finished with the job.

The house is a disaster and i have an investment club meeting at 4. I need a wife.

Mikey D: Take them.
When our first batch was a few weeks old we took them to Gramdma's in Tucson. That's a 1 1/2 drive! They lived in her shower for a couple of days with cardboard taped across the front to keep them from escaping. My mom loved that.

The chicks look like they are getting wet. Be careful, don't let them get too wet. We almost lost one last year that got wet so the others were picking on it. I think they probably would have killed it if we hadn't intervened. Do the rice hulls keep things nice and dry? I am just switching my chicks from paper towels to pine shavings today. They are starting to scratch and mess up the paper towels. I'm also moving them into the water heater box. They are going to have lots of exercise room for awhile which is good because I don't have a way to take them outside yet.

Hey guys and gals, I posted in the duck forum that a local valley rescue/rehab duck gal is suffering a death of someone very close to her very unexpectedly. This person provided considerable physical and financial support to the rescue and as a result "Webfoot Rescue" can no longer maintain itself. It's vitally important to find homes as soon as possible for as many sanctuary animals quickly as the feed fund is dwindling down by the day and the death of this rescue partner resulted in the loss of his property where many sanctuary animals were kept.

I exchanged several emails with her last night and she desperately needs homes for over a hundred ducks, many geese, guineas, turkeys, chickens and several good natured roos in addition to many foster cats and kittens she's been supporting above and beyond the feed and vet bills she already had just from the birds. She's having the hardest time placing the kitties, geese and the roos. There's no shortage of people willing to take hens but not many willing to take the accompanying roosters. She's accepting any and all donations for feed (either paypal or bags of food) and placing many birds for free to good forever homes as pets (not food.) Many different breeds of singles, pairs, and flocks including campbells, runners, sweedish, buffs, rouens, cayugas, calls, Embden geese, buff geese-- you name it, it's been abandoned and she picked it up, vetted it to health and it's been waiting to go to a home.

I promised her I'd share information anywhere it may be seen by poultry lovers.

You can reach the rescue contact information via webfootrescue.com. If for any reason it doesn't work send me a forum PM and I'll get you Tammy's phone number directly. She operates out of Gilbert, but often travels all over the valley and can set up some kind of transportation if it's too far for you.
I'll be doing a pickup soon and I live in the far West Valley out near Buckeye.

You need a chicken sitter!

I do have one. The girl who babysits for us is a total animal/garden person, so she took care of the dogs, chickens, and garden!
