Or are the outgrowing their ability to produce feathers fast enough to keep up? They grow really really fast, right?
Did that make sense? When I was 16 I had my tonsils and adenoids out and I went from Twiggy to Sophia Loren in 3 months. I grew so fast that my skin couldn't keep up and I'm wondering if something similar is taking place.

Another good probability!

Ummm...got any post tonsil pictures Sophia?

Sorry to hear that.... Anytime you want to get some of our fertile eggs let me know as I have properties I manage in E. Mesa and AJ and go that way twice a month. They are mixed and straight run when you hatch, but our Roosters are doing their job pretty well. We usually get at least 80% and often better.

Awesome and thanks. I'll let you know. My wife was pretty ticked to have spent that money on the shipped eggs to get lav orps and only hatched one. I doubt she'll ever let me do shipped eggs again. What kinds of roosters do you have?

Better to pay higher $$$ and get hatched and started birds, or even breeding age (or close) ones. Cost-wise it is likely to be less expensive than "hopeful" but not realized savings by purchasing eggs.

Speaking of fish ponds...
Does anyone in the Tucson area know of someone who helps take care of ponds?
My mom has a small pond and the guy who helped her take care of it died recently. Sad. He was a really nice guy. He rebuilt player pianos too.
Anyway, she needs to find someone to help with her small pond.

Excellent idea! I was actually thinking of welding up a small aluminum tray to catch the droplets. It seems they all are "shot" towards the back so the tray could extend only up to the center line of the nipples to allow them access.

That's funny!

You sound like my husband. He'll find any excuse to weld something.

Hey there! Thank you so much for meeting us. My kids thought you were great & they were so glad "she wasn't some old crazy chicken lady" haha out of the mouths of babes. They loved the clips you brought them - do you make those?

The Seramas are settling in nicely - his crow is HILARIOUS

Hubby about blew tea out his nose when he heard him! They are still picking on the little jap roo - but he stand his ground.

There was some great looking birds at the fair! My little girl fell in love with the white call ducks. And they all thought the guineas were ridiculous.

Glad you had & the family had a great time and made it home safely.

Yes I make the hair clips. It just started out for my girls and then I got way out of control..like all my hobbies. I go to a few craft fairs and sell them to support the habit. I made some headbands too. I should list them on the auction page, but I haven't got around to it.

Did you see the Guinea pigs there too? We even saw them showing them. It was pretty funny. Next year we want to go longer and with more cash. We let the girls go on two rides and that was $20 because the baby needed a adult with here. YIKES!

I am glad your kids didn't think I was an old chicken lady...I feel like it sometimes!!!

Bob's Henhouse :

CA, re: move. I've been working on it for a couple of weeks, and still haven't moved anything out of the house yet. TOO much crap in the (ashamed to say it) 5 car garage with only one car buried in it somewhere. I've been paying my brother to come over from L.A. to build, or help build (mostly build) the 2 new coops. The doors are going on the second one today, then need the paper and tiles for the roof, connect the 2 with a covered (hawk and owl proof) roof, with fencing buried all the way around since I've heard 2 pack of coyotes in the wash every time I'm there. The lady we bought it from just moved out FINALLY late Fri. night, so we can now move stuff into the house. I bought 2 cargo containers to get stuff out of the garage and yard. It's just been difficult with work being so busy to get anything done. I have hope though, not much, but still have some.

I can soooo relate to the "It's just been difficult with work being so busy to get anything done". Therefore the plucker is not anywhere near done

. And since I lost almost all of my roosters I don't have any pressure anymore

. Congrats on the progress though!

That's a good idea, seems like they all said the same sorta thing about local pickup only though.
