The only thing I could find was:

Tucson Poultry, Pigeon and Fancy Fowl Club 41st Annual Show November 19-20 Tucson, Arizona Muriel Ewer, 6262 South Sorrell Lane, Tucson, AZ 85746 (520) 883-0857

I thought there was a phx show around the 20th or so but I cannot find it.

Do the commercial chicken farmers leave the lights on 24/7 or is that just a rumor? I would think short term wouldn't be all that bad but hey I can sleep through anything!

Oh, I was in a hurry and missed that part. My sympathies also. The first one is the hardest.

Actually she was our second 1 to lose. we started out with 4 chicks, the 2 BOs, and 2 silkies but sadly our dog got 1 of the silkies when they were about 4-6 wks old. then i went to get a replacement and ended up getting 3 more

Midwest. I believe it's Illinois somewhere. If you go into the Meat Bird section, a bunch of those guys are going.

I found the Illinois show - I thought arora must be talking about a local show.

So what do we do for heat if we do not use an incandescent light?

Tracy - are you serious about limiting food to 12 hours?

I use the75W red heat lamps. They aren't as bright and the chicks seem to sleep at night with them on. I've been turning it off during the day for the last few days, though and turned if off for the first night tonight. I'm getting them ready for the big move outside. They are supposed to still have at least 75 degrees this week, 70 next week and then they should be OK at 6 weeks without heat if they are fully feathered.
I got the heat lamp bulb at Walmart, but last time I checked they didn't have them at my store anymore.

As for lights in the coop.

I have mine on a timer and it comes on at 6AM and goes off at 8PM, year round.

Still, I get most of my eggs from October through May. The heat just messes with them and they lay very few in the summer
