I just don't understand why they are'nt alowed to grow up and used as roasters. So many people in the world are starving!

That's what I thought when I posted it. I was much happier being ignorant.

I did not look at the video, but sexing can be done on certain breeds by development of wing feathers. This does not work on all breeds, it is a sex-linked/indicator gene. I don;t use it, so forget whether you are looking for varied or same lengths of all wing feathers to determine male versus female. Vent sexing is literally opening the vent and seeing whether you can see the male organ (it is internal) or not. This takes training, and cannot safely be done on bantams. The other ways of sexing day old chicks is by sex-link or sex-indicator genes.

Yer asking the wrong guy!

I do know that in some breeds there is some identifying feature on one of the sexes.

I think the breed sex-links has a dot on one or the other's head.

Thank you so much SS. That really helps. I will not be so quick to pick up the eggs next time.
I did know the counting days was when the hen sits or the eggs are put in the incubator.
I am worried about my flip chick tho. Should she stay with the other chicks?

One of my chicks has a dot on its head!
