Arizona Chickens

I went to check on my girls before leaving to moms today and my poor sweet little red frizzle(Miki-my 4 year old says we have the same hair so he named her after me) came up to me and I looked down and saw her plucked and bleeding!

I brought her in cleaned her up, gave her some scrambled eggs and electrolytes put her in the chick hospital and kept her in a quiet warm dark area. I'm sure she will be fine but I know she can't go back out with the big girls so looks like I'll be making a little coop and run for her and her 2 sisters(black frizzles).

Keep an eye on her, she should be fine. I had that one cornish who practically had a hole in his leg, down into his muscle. He seemed infected, droopy tail, warm to the touch, depressed. 1/2 ml of penicillin IM ( remember he's a monster chicken) and the next day he was running to the gate begging for food.
I'm giving him a couple of weeks to heal and for the penicillin to clear out before he goes to the freezer.
If you need any help pm me. In the meantime, sounds like you're taking good care of her, enjoy your holiday at your mom's!

Thank you. It was actually kind of cute when I showed up at moms with Miki in tow everyone stopped what they were doing to try and help. Mom kept sneaking her snacks(eggs, biscuits, veggies and fruits). And dad kept checking on her every 15 minutes. She is probably loving all the special treatment. She isn't acting hurt at all, very alert and playful.

I managed to get my kids in bed an hour ago, after showing them that NORAD had spotted Santa in northern Mexico. But they just now passed out. Darn afternoon naps!

Remember, there are three stages of Santa.

1) You believe in Santa
2) You don't believe in Santa
3) You ARE Santa.
