Arizona Chickens

That picture makes me want a rooster and a broody hen. But I guess my chickens need to START laying eggs first. First comes the chicken, then the egg...or is it the other way around?

Merry Christmas, everyone!

Mine are 3 white and 1 black. My problem is I have a blue/black marans chick the same age in with them that is huge in comparison that I can't split out right now (sure it's a roo). Hubby says they can go out now can't they, little does he know I think they are destined to be house chicks for a while....The 16 silkies cooking in the bator are white, black and bbs, hoping to get a splash out of them. They sure are cute

my 2 1/2 month old silkies are outside, but they still have heat at night. they can still squeeze under their ecoglow and stay there all night. i put them out when i first got them at 6 weeks and the temps dropped fast, so i never took their heat away. oops. new babies are in the laundry room with the red lamp. i have another ecoglow ordered.

I hate to say it but my 12 week old silkies have been out since about three weeks old without heat. I'm a mean, brutal chicken mommy.
Edited because my IPAD makes the strangest corrections with spellcheck.

Ummm thinking, I was just being nice because they are so small....revamping the run in my mind....I need them out as have quail going to hatch hopefully next week....more silkies the next and just put in 29 Welsh Harlequin eggs....

Went to the parents for Christmas Eve. Turns out we were supposed to be there tomorrow, not today so I guess we'll go back tomorrow. But, we still had a nice time. While we were there I got a call that I had 5-6 chickens out in the cul-de-sac and my neighbor got them up. That would be my "garden" chickens. The three little silky chicks, the two hen-pecked Cornish Roos and the silly Hamburger who decided she doesn't like the rest of the flock.
The Hamburger is still missing. If anybody sees a hamburger shaped like a hen running down Broadway in Mesa, I'm missing one. Thanks! She's probably hiding somewhere in the front yard or nearby but it was dark when I got home. She's very skittish. Actually, she's pretty much crazy.
Merry Christmas everyone!

Yeah. The little golden one with the black barring. Not my tiny bantam that you held. That was the Old English Bantam. This is the one that lives in the garden. The golden Penciled Hamburgs have the cool looking combs. They look similar to the Buttercups but the markings are a little different and they are more skittish. Good layers though and very heat tolerant. All the colors of Hamburgs are beautiful birds. They come in silver spangled, citron spangled and the golden penciled.
Don't get me wrong, I like her, she's just a bit crazy and hard to catch. About six weeks ago she decided to live in the garden and I just let her. I know where she lays her eggs now and we're all happy.
Here's some Hamburg pictures, Mikey.
