ok ok, i made him do it. but i LOVE my wellies! their eggs are not quite as dark as the FBCMs, but they lay better and are supposedly heat tolerant. i got my two from a breeder(sorry mikey) and i was thinking of calling her up after our HOUR LONG CONVERSATION and seeing if she was going to have more this spring. yes mikey, i completely enjoyed talking to you. i need adult conversation every now and again after dealing with my 3 little lovely terrors.

anyone in the market for a weirdly bossy salmon faverolle? she is 10 months and laying, but pulling the feathers out of my yet to be laying dark brahma. hum, makes me wonder if that's why this brahma is not laying yet. everyone else is. she only picks on this brahma, very weird. no worms, no bugs, no crowding, just a strange FRENCH FAVEROLLE!

I would be interested in her if you still have her.

She was beautiful. Looks like many of my girls.

Thank you. I hope to get a couple more of her. ...along with maybe an Olive Egger and either a FBCM or BCM. ( Anyone know of breeders locally for these breeds? Would like to get full breed and not hatchery chicks)

yes, she does look like mahonri's bw hennies. i have one bw left from his eggs after the ratbirds came thru and dropped their filth in my yard and killed off 3 bw ameraucanas from dar. but i still have a wheaten and a splash. i am so sorry chris.

Wow. Where to start? I used to live in coastal Washington and went to a couple of BYC gatherings there. We had a pretty large flock of assorted chickens, ducks and pheasants. Also three of the sweetest goats you ever saw!

My Cuckoo Maran were my favorites. They were from great bloodlines and gave us some of the greatest dark eggs. Fast forward to now. I'm now in Tucson. No room for chickens :-( . BUT, I have a co-worker in Marana who has a nice flock of mix breeds. We have decided to go in together on raising some larger meat breeds (no Cornish X's). And I can have some Maran there for eggs!! I'm so excited. I've also decided that, after my lease is out in July, I'm going to start looking for a place on an acre around Picture Rocks or further south. Then I'm getting goats again.

I'd like to hatch the Maran chicks myself so I'm doing research now, bringing myself up to date on the Maran world.

So good to see so many chicken people here.

Sherrie
