Arizona Chickens

I couldn't resist getting some more chicks. Now I am up to 12 little chicks. 3 black sex-links, 3 red sex-links, 4 barred rocks, and 2 blue wyandottes. One thing I have noticed, the black sex-links and barred rocks are laid back and mild mannered. The red sex-links are feisty. And the blue wyandottes are yappy. HAHA!! I love them all!

Where did you get your chicks? Are the Wyandottes blue or blue laced reds? Am waiting patiently for the 10th and 15th to come as the feed store by me will have Silver Laced Wyandottes and Easter Eggers.

Congrats Mikey! WOW!

Hey AZBOOTSIE have you still got that last maranda hen? Denise and I are loving the 3 we got and would take the last one if available. We decided to put them in a coop by themselves when we get the coop that is in progress finished.
That hen in the picture is gorgious!

1/2 a strawberry + 8 chicks = 5 minutes of great entertainment for a family of 4. I think they each got a small bite as the chased each other around and grabbed it away from one another. So egg-cited to get my peepers from Mikey D tomorrow.

Are you all LOVING this beautiful weather? And the 10 day says more of the same. I've got lots of broccoli to harvest and little pea pods growing... and table beets that will soon be ready to start harvesting and a good number of bell peppers to pic...

Wish my hens would start laying. I only get eggs from my RIR, my Icelandic, my TJ leghorn and my FBCM... and rarely one of my ameraucanas will lay. Lazy butts.!

I'm loving the weather, one of my peach trees has decided that its spring, and is covered in blossoms. The other two are budding, so I hope we don't get a sudden cold snap or I'll get no peaches! I decided to trust the peach trees, and planted melons and beans in the square foot raised beds my husband built for the front yard.

And onto the tough stuff.

One of the peeper did not make it through the trip. Two more don't look well (all are App Spitz). One of them just lays there. I've been dipping their beaks in the sugar water mix recommended by ideal but it looks like I might loose one or two more.

Heat is fine (judging by the proper spacing between chicks) and all the rest are jumping around being peepers.

Any suggestions?
