She is being a real good mother!

Called my husband today to remind him not to order me flowers delivered at work and if he had to have it switched to a home delivery because I have jury duty tomorrow. He says "I know better than to get you flowers. I know you'd rather have a chicken." I piped in quickly and said "Oh yes, a frizzle, sizzle, or silkie would make me really happy

". I don't think I am getting anything.

He just finished building me a chicken coop and letting me get 9 chickens. What more could a girl ask for? Other than another chicken

Pictures of the coop. Girls moved in Saturday after I got home from the Poultry Show. New hen moved in Sunday.
You can see the un-painted 2x2's on the top of the run. The run has hinges on the roof so that they can be opened, the unpainted 2x2s are also on hinges and swing open when you open the lid to become the support beams. I'll have to get pictures of it open. there are 3 roosts in the run for the girls to perch during the day if they'd like. They are mostly meant as structural support bars.

First night in hen house the 5 week old girls enjoyed the roost

It is Beautiful!!!

Tried Strawberries yesterday. She didn't want any part of it. What other kind of appealing treats? Should I not feed her out of a bowl and only offer hand fed food, if so, how much? how often?

I started by tossing treats (scratch, kale, anything really) on the ground just a little ways from myself. I'd call out "here chick, chick" every time I gave them treats. Now when I say that, they come running to me. I figured it would be useful to have a way of calling them to me in case they got out or I needed to round them up for some reason. Anyway, I'd give the treats a couple of times a day. I'd also sit out with them while they were out so they'd get used to me. As she gets more comfortable, start offering treats from your hand.
She'll warm up to you, especially when she figures out she gets yummy treats from you.

Thank You, I love it. He did such a good job. I just painted, he did the rest.

Thank You, I will try this. I put scratch mixed with the mash in our bin so they get 50/50, guess I shouldn't have done that . But I have other treats as far as produce goes that I'll share with them .

Cheese is like chicken crack!

Little tiny bits of it though - they can't resist cheese!

I LOVE all the pictures from the show! Mikey kept me entertained today by texting me pictures of the chickens. :)

I was getting so excited, planning a new coop for the new house, but I don't think it is going to happen. We purposely picked a house that had no HOA, but we got a "Declaration of Establishment of Conditions and Restrictions" from the title company today that has a list of neighborhood rules...

"No cattle, sheep, goats, hogs, horses, rabbits, poultry, or other livestock shall be kept or maintained upon said property. This paragraph shall not be construed, however, as prohibiting or in any manner interfering with the keeping of ordinary domestic pet animals upon said property."

We're supposed to close in a few weeks and I love the house... :-(

Get back with your title company ASAP, and ask how it can have a declaration if it is not a planned community. Let them know that this information was NOT previously disclosed to you and may well cause you to re-think your purchase. That the lack of legally required disclosures is grounds for canceling the contract without penalty (meaning that you will get all deposits back). You will have to make your decision pretty rapidly--check the time for responding to disclosures--I *think* it is either 7 or ten days, but it may be less.

Call your realtor and make the same demands for an explanation. Let them know that they need to solve this NOW, or they will lose their sames commission.

Whatever you do, do NOT sign any paperwork agreeing to the restrictions.
