Anyone in need of a Barnevelder rooster? Just thought I'd ask before the old craigslist listing. We don't have a birth certificate but he is believed to be 8 months old and very "active". He currently goes by the name of Elder Velder and sometimes Darth Velder.

Weighing in at a whopping 6lbs 3oz and a reach of 26"s (we're talking about the wings, cmon on!)

My buff orp is looney today. She's squawking up a storm and she is following me around like a puppy. The only thing that's different is a stack of lumber we picked up today from Lowe's. Are chickens sensitive to change in the yard? My FBCM is all swollen up again, too. She and the Buff are chums. Maybe the buff knows something's wrong.

I know someone up near Payson, (but who gets to the Valley regularly) who is looking for a rooster or two for his Aracauna (probably EE) hens. I copied your message and sent it to him so can let you
know if he's interested/you're interested? I just don't know the size difference....your roo sounds like a big boy!

what is the bulk feed order?

A guy by the name of Scott Brown got a bunch of people together using the valley perma culture site to purchase organic feed from a mill. We got 5 pallets last time and are going to put in an order every other month. There are 20 or so varieties of feed / seed / scratch etc... and it works out to around $20 per bag.

This is the perma culture thread:

and this is the facebook page:

Drop Scott a message either way and he'll include you in the mailing for the next order.

There are still one or two small hitches but it has worked great so far!

We picked up 100' of 1 x 2 welded wire fence today.

I'm going to fence off part of the yard to keep the chickies off of the patio.

I'm really hoping 4' will be enough to discourage them from flying over.

Of course I'll have 60+ feet left over....

What to build, what to build?
