Arizona Chickens

I think a lot of it would have to do with where you get them. We had a Jersey giant from the hatchery and it was a Jersey medium at best.

I've been saying that I'd like a large (huge?) protective (but non aggressive towards people) roo for the ladies.

However someone more knowledgeable than myself mentioned that a really big guy might hurt the smaller hens.

I guess we'll see how the App Spitz's turn out...

Where is the Feed Barn? It's not the same as Mesa Feed Barn, is it? Also, jersey giants and brahmas are super big, right? Are they ok with regular sized hens? I'd like either one but I'm not sure I have the room.

DEFINTELY not the same. The Feed Barn is just off I-17, a bit south of Deer Valley. 2428 W. Lone Cactus Dr. (623) 582-1147 FWIW, I get my feed there--a LOT of places closer, but The Feed Barn carries a better brand of feed, it is almost always in stock and very fresh; they are very nice people.

So that's why those roosters at the poultry show were so HUGE. DH and I have never seen such large roosters. DH wanted one. he also liked the ones in the back that had long tail feathers and red feathers...they were really shiny... Can't remember what they were.
