Arizona Chickens

I can take some eggs to Denise for you, but they would all be large fowl. Let me know if you want some.

Don't you have to have 24 eggs to be in the hatch along? What kind of eggs will they be? Denise has the large chickens. She so wants some EEs WE have a rooster that is suppoised to be a auracounous, I know I spelled that wrong, but folks say you can't get a purebred from a feed store. I will put a picture of him up tomorrow and see what everyone thinks

I'm in NW Tucson, not super close, but I have chicks from a number of different breeds that I raise--black and red sex-links--all pullets, as well as Blue Laced Red Wyandottes and some EEs (green egg layers)--those are straight run, but I do have some older ones that I can sex now. Plus all my breeders and chicks are raised exclusively on organic feed. PM me if you are interested.

Welcome Chrissie!

Good luck with that!

You have found your new addiction!

Fuzzybird I have BBS Plymouth Rocks in a breeding pen, a Wheaten Ameraucana roo over a couple of EE's and a wheaten AM pullet in another and then in my layers coop I have a big black and gold EE/mutt over Golden Cuckoo Marans, Dominiques, Production Reds, Easter Eggers and some barnyard mutts. My lav Am's are in a breeding pen also, but I am going to set every egg they lay.

Nope, you can set ans many or as few eggs as you want. There is a contest for best percentage hatched and to compete you must set 24 eggs. But most of the other competition/prize winning things don't have a number requirement.

This is Richie and a few of the hens from my laying flock. These would be the mixed up breeds.

A couple of the Easter Eggers

I know I have pics of my Blue Rocks and Wheaten Ams somewhere...gonna have to search

Help!

One of my 6-7 week olds has a watery/crusty eye. I separated her this AM and am posting this in the hopes that I can get whatever ya'll recommend between jobs today.

Any ideas?

I'll be interested to hear what responses you get. I had a young'un with similar symptoms a few weeks ago. I bought the antibiotic that was recommended, but it didn't seem to make a difference. In the end, I decided it was probably a virus, and tossed her back with the group. Everyone seems to be doing fine.

One of my girls had that once. Looks like she had gotten some sand in her eye which irritated it and it became watery and crusty. I cleaned the outer eye with warm water and a cotton ball. Then I used Clean Eyes (Got it at Petsmart) which is an eye solution/flush for dogs to wash out anything that may be in her eye. It worked for us. Good Luck Mikey.
