Arizona Chickens

Just created my account. I live in Gilbert AZ and wanted to Say Hi.

We have had our four chickens for just over a year. Wanting to get more soon.

Hi Brenda,
I'm still in the planing stages for our BYC project, we are also in Gilbert. I have been trying to research what if any new amendments to the restrictions have been proposed or enacted to ease our ability to keep them. Saw your post while I was poking around, wondered if you heard anything new ? I've been told I have to have a letter "P" designator next to our location on their map. We live amidst the usual sea of tile, have a big garden and can't wait to get the chickens going. Just hens no roosters, only want the eggs and to enjoy the birds. Hope your operation is going well, need all the help and advice I can get from fellow BYC readers.

Thank you
Dave

While I'm currently living in New Mexico, I follow these folks closely.. I have learned so much from them, it's amazing.. I know you'll like them... Will

Thanks for the Welcome. I almost done build an new coop. The first one was just a thrown together coop to get us started. This one is custom design and built by me.
I will post Pictures soon.

Any way my wife and 3 young boys wanted chickens and I sort of agree. They enjoy them and I'm learning tool. I never knew Back Yard chickens was this popular.

Hello and

welcome-byc.gif

You picked a great time to join, if you are looking for chicks. Mahonri's Huge Hatch-a-long is in progress and on 4/7 THOUSANDS of chicks will hatch all across the world. Most of us set more eggs that we will ever need. I will have at least a dozen extra chicks here in Congress. If you watch this thread I am sure several AZ Hatchers closer to you will also have extras to sell or give away.

Thanks Gallo and Mikey!!

It really is an eyesore, but function is great and it didn't cost me anything. Should be really easy to clean and stacking them left lots of room to keep the shopvac handy. I moved them to my sewing room, so overnight guests don't have to sleep with the chickens anymore.

Hi Folks!

And the continuing saga of Mikey's sickos:

I've got runny noses now.

The vaporizer is now on a block on the floor of the pen - I'm adding 1 ox of Oxine to 3/4 gal of water and it is in their face

(It is running near 24 hours a day)

The antibiotics are in the water. - I'm mixing right around 800 mg per gal (1/2 oz per gallon)

The roo with the bad eye is getting Gintramicine 3 - 4 x a day (now in both eyes)

I'm going to get these birds healed up!

Goodness gracious, you just can't catch a break.
