. More on the way too. Getting like 1 everyday! Anybody interested? Daddy is a Rio grande Wild and Mom is a Bourbon Red and a few chicks may have a Royal Palm MOM. They all really look pretty much the same except for varying shades of brown/tan and some are lighter than others. All of them are very strong and healthy. I was going to ask 10 each (i paid 15 at the feed store for my baby blue slate),but may also be open to trades of other breeds or ?. I love to mix it up so I get a little better gene pool and hopefully some hybrid vigor. I would love to get a Wild type hen if anyone knows where to look!! Thanks to all my fellow peeps!

I have a HUGE favor to ask :).....

I am looking for Mike Miller, he is a breeder of White Faced Black Spanish here in AZ
I am wondering if anyone here knows him? Or how I might find a way to contact this person? I was about to contact Jim Bell in TN, but then I learned that there was a fellow Arizonan that loves this breed too! I am very interested in acquiring WFBS, preferably Exhibition quality, but I am pretty flexible :) I love this breed and I want to do anything I can to help conserve it. Thank you guys for any help.

ElizabethAz, Try www.zabasearch.com when looking for someone... Will

Greetings! You really do need at least a couple more chicks. Of course we're all enablers around here. Good luck building your coop, think shade and ventilation and you'll be on your way.
X10 Shade and ventilation is more important than anything else, except security... Will

How can we keep the coop cool in our heat?. I would think they would roast in there while trying to lay their eggs. I plan to use windows that open with screens for summer ventilation. I hope that is enough. Does everyone have enclosed coops? I would love to see pictures of others coops in the area. I am trying to figure out what to do with all the quail eggs I get.I am not eating those eggs. Anyone else have a quail?
Kris
Lots of us here have coops that are mostly open to allow for free flow of air. Try to put it in the shadiest spot you can. If that's not possible, you have to create shade. If you look at the link just under my avatar that says "my coop" you'll see some of the things I've done to keep the coop and run cool.

I'd take one but we already talked about this. I'd be looking for meat birds and I've not been able to convince my husband that I need a turkey, YET. I really think I need about 10 more chickens and he won't go for that either.

Very few enclosed coops here. Ventilation, shade and breezes are key. Add LOTS of shade. And did I mention SHADE?
