That's awesomely funny Mama Hen Chris!

It's a glorious day in the last week of May; my Beauty Plums are beginning ripen!

The tree is now mature at five years and producing phenomenal numbers of fruits. I thinned out nearly 1000 fruits earlier this season when they were dime-sized and it's a good thing, the branches are so loaded, they're about to snap.

We also picked the first ripe fig of the season, a giant specimen of White Kadota:

hey kev, how are your basque looking? my pullets are checking out the nest boxes already. seems a bit early for that. i still have a roo that isn't crowing, maybe he is a mute or those silly silkie roos are loud enough and he doesn't want me to get in trouble and cook him up. they are getting really pretty.

MamaHenChris - I LOVE that photo! That really made me laugh.

Gallo - I am so jealous of that tree. Yummy!

JohnSWA - Congrats on the first egg.

Welcome to the new people the last few days!

I think one of my new babies might be getting ready to lay. Her comb is quite red, and she keeps checking out the nest box.

Because eggs are porous and incubator temps are perfect for growing bacteria. So far I have been lucky, but a rotten egg explosion is one of my fears. I hear they are really nasty!!
Than I should always candle and get the dudes out for they may be a health concern with the good eggs? Is this why my full formed chicks didn't hatch?
