Arizona Chickens

Someone laid their first egg two days ago. It's the middle one. A tad smaller than my EE's egg and much smaller than my Jersey Giants egg. I think it was laid by my RIR as she has been caught in the nest a few times. As a matter of fact, I just saw her go into the nesting box but she only stays in a few minutes. Her sisters follow her in and scratch in the litter in the hen house while she sniffs around in the nest boxes. Hmm...maybe I'll be having a half dozen eggs a day soon rather than 1 or 2. The girls are 22 weeks old.

Very Cool!

Awesome day in Israel! We started in Tel Aviv / Joffa, traveled to Ceasarea, had lunch near Mt. Carmel and we are staying at a Kibutz near Tiberias on the Sea of Galilee. This Kibutz has a meat bird coop with over 30,000 birds... totally amazing. auto feeders and waterers.... all look like Cornish X.
What a great opportunity!

Have a great time!

I believe the big expectations are that you have birds of some sort, some kind of facilities for them, and that you are willing to let others see your setup.

IF enough people remain interested in showing their coops off it may be worth it to have several of them, either just 2 or 3 specific days, or a reoccurring event every x number of weeks or months. That would give new people the chance to decide if they want to show theirs off after seeing some of the others in an earlier tour. My wife knows a lot of the local Backyard Chickens members, so we may be able to get some of them to participate and show some interesting setups. One of them was made by a welder, he had this whole large frame hot dip galvanized, I have not seen it yet, but I have heard all about it.
