4 - 5 days old or really 45 days old??? how or where did you find out that gross fact!!!???

Easily 45 days old and only half the time refrigerated. Anyone who is interested, "the doctors" on channel 3 are doing an episode on the chicken you buy at the store and supposedly what is done to it. I don't know the time but I'm guessing 2:00.

Here is another can of worms to open..... Organic from the store is not really organic.

Another first egg today. Exactly 6 months old today but not sure who laid it. I used a $ to as a visualizing device. The egg is the same size as the oval picture frame of a dollar bill. Too cute. I have to wait to show the kids before I break it open.

Awesome day in Israel! We started in Tel Aviv / Joffa, traveled to Ceasarea, had lunch near Mt. Carmel and we are staying at a Kibutz near Tiberias on the Sea of Galilee. This Kibutz has a meat bird coop with over 30,000 birds... totally amazing. auto feeders and waterers.... all look like Cornish X.

Organic and natural are terms that may not convey what you think they do. Poop is natural and organic. Rocks are natural. Beware of the semantics.

I wouldn't eat either.

As to the question of eating fresh or stored eggs, in the war in Viet Nam, we ate dehydrated eggs that were laid in the 1930's. It didn't kill us, but it sure gave us another outlook on sponge rubber.

not sure where the data came from that was mentioned before but did find this on the Agricultural Marketing Service about date codes and eggs are packed withing 1-7 days of being laid. The USDA - Sell by date can be no more than 30 days past the packed date. I would assume this means our eggs at the store should be no more than 37 days old when you buy them.

I don't even want to think about store eggs anymore, I froze some for the down time on the girls, and doing a bunch of quail eggs tomorrow. So where do I hang this stinky flycatcher thing...in the run or outside?

You hang it where you want the flies to be--usually as far away from things like the house or the coop as possible. (unless you want the chickens to eat the flies, then hang it nearby).

Did you know that the average age of the eggs sold in grocery stores is about 45 days old?

I'm interested in the source for that stat...
