Arizona Chickens

Mahonri and Laree....I candled the eggs that came home with me...they are ALL looking great, growing and growing. So I hope that I will have lots and lots of babies from them. This was just the fastest way to tell you both

LOL---you NEED to remember a box or do like I do and get some plastic cat carriers..they are a good size for babies up to full grown, you can only put ONE full grown one in it though and it was kind of tight

When I sold that GYNOURMOUS cuckoo maran roo the lady remembered to bring a carrier, but it was a CAT CARRIER!!

Sure, he fit inside: but how do you shove a angry/scared roo through that little opening?

It was awesome

All the way from Florence... to IKEA... then to the feed store and back to Queen Creek. DH was not thrilled about "Craps on Slacks" a.k.a. "Poops on Jackets" a.k.a. "Ate Half her Body Weight for Breakfast That Morning And Left Half on my Pants and Half on the Passenger Seat"

Awesome.

Good morning from Tonopah, we are still getting rain out here, and the green is growing like gang busters! The Daisies are in bloom along I-10 and my yard looks like I have a lawn. The yellow and some white flowers are in blooming.. My cactus have buds all over them. I can't wait to get photos of them.

I am glad that we are getting rain. It has been a long dry spell.

Good luck to all of you that are brave enough to hatch your own babies. It really sounds hard!

Do take a box or cat carrier and old towel or something for the bottom so they don't slide around. That can cause straddle legs, if they slip and slide around.

Have a great day everyone!

Good evening: gckidhouse... let me know when you want me to start gathering eggs for you.

My girls have really slowed down for some reason. I only got 9 eggs today. Only 1 W/BW today out of the five pullets, 2 green ones from EEs, and various others. I may have to give you a real variety of easter eggers this time around. Can't wait to see the pics

Gretchen, so glad you have lots of developing chicks.

My garden is looking so AWESOME, I'm about ready to start harvesting some of my lettuce. I've already been harvesting my broccoli, I have lots of peas growing in the pods and some of the squash seeds I planted are coming up now!

It was a beautiful hike up the mountain this evening. I just love the smell of the desert after it rains.

Have a great one y'all.

I bet you it's the rain slowing them. Probably confused on what the hell it is and why it's happening so much.

In the yard I planted a heap of jasmine, parsley and thyme but none of it is growing, I think the rain drowned them. :C
Anyone ever grown Mums before? Or Zimmas?

My garden is doing really well too. I actually took my seed box to work so at lunchtime I could pick what to plant. I really don't have ROOM for anything, but the beets will grow under the brusselsprouts (they like the shade in my yard), the beans can be planted on the other side of the peas, the squashes are all going to be contained in pots this year.

I usually keep my seeds for quite a while, but some were pushing it. Anything from 2007 or older is going in the ground. Wish me luck!

My girls only laid 5 eggs yesterday. THe buff brahma kept getting in the nest box, looking at the sky, and then getting out. I bet she laid that egg at 4 am this morning.

We got to pick up the wood fence yesterday

Now to start planning the coop and get ready to build it next week. Then I can destroy the monstrosity that is their current coop.

I candled yesterday and low and behold I saw at least two eggs developing.

Two out of six isnt bad, especially since they are LF eggs and my guy is a bantam

Cant wait, they should hatch the beginning of next week.

Quick question to the East Valley folks:
Im looking for DE (food grade), some hay for the nest boxes, oyster shells, chicken nipples and of course feed.
I've been to several feed stores that charged to the sun because they could even though they had no idea what they were talking about.
Have you been to any stores in particular that you like? I am so sick of driving out of my way only to find a lack there of products and rude personnel.
