I made certain that I was going into the air cell, I knew I could find the beak from there since they had pipped internal into the air sac.... the reason I could hear them chirping inside..

Oh My!That all sounds hard to do. I would be so shaky I would break the egg all at one time. My hands would shake too much.

Mahonri, are you raising Blue Cochins, Bantam by any chance? I am still looking. I am also looking for Sultan pullets.

The feed store I go to, has some standard Black, that are just wonderful looking. I was real tempted to get one from him. However I had better stick with the Bantams.

Pati- I think I have some blue cochins in the bator. I will have to check...

the eggs are: Cochin standard - Blue splash over buff, so probably not what you need. I do have a bantam red cochin egg in the incubator as well as some MF cochins humming along...

Or better question.... what kind of bator do you guys have?

I need to order some bantam cochin eggs and well, dont have a way to hatch them.

My broody is busy

I have a regular old little giant. It works great. I actually think I like it better without the egg turner (I enjoy the turning by hand and have GREAT hatch rates)

My only regret is actually buying the darn thing. Before, I had some sort of limit....now I cant stop!

I looked at some pics of Ancona chicks and Polish chicks. Steve doesn't look like any of them. He does resemble a Black Am. chick, but he probably doesn't have those genetics. He definitely doesn't have the little poof on top.

Darn. We were really looking forward to the Polish.

Now I will be looking for Polish hatching eggs. Also need dark egg layers!! Or olive egg layers.

Hoping to get my bator perfected with a thermostat by next week. If I were to set new eggs by next Friday or Saturday, the chicks would arrive on Easter... Do I dare??? Could I?...

I feel defeated by this hatch. I must redeem myself!! Right?

Hatch more chickens is what I say....but no one listens to me anymore because I am the crazy chicken lady.

People have started coming up to me in stores asking if I am the ONE that sells chickens.... I really need to get some shirts made.

It is raining up North again, so the pens that just got dry and are all wet again. But all the chickens seem to be just fine with it.

Also, I am now on cow watch...my cow is really close to having her baby, I can't believe it is time for this again. This past year has gone really fast.

So how is the weather down south of me, what is everyone doing today

It's raining here in North Phoenix. . . looks like that will continue throughout the day. . . my girls are "in" by choice, a rare event for them.
