Rufus- Nope, no power line--I am really thinking the incubator has a humidity leak somewhere. I am going to give onthespot's eggs until EOD tomorrow, and then egg-topsy them. My hydrometers SAY humidity is ~70-80% but I am betting the chicks will be shrinkwrapped.

So, once the eggs in there are done--- you know, croaking en masse--- I am going to go through and modify it. Maybe put down a bead of silicone so the lid gets a tighter seal? I will also be working on my wine cooler incubator.

Also-I figure you all know this, but all offers for "space in the incubator" are hereby suspended until I get this problem corrected. I am willing to throw my own egg money down the toilet, but not anyone else's.

Lol welcome.

I love free CL. Now only if someone put up an add for a little giant.

I use a the RANCO ETC 111000 (think that's right). I'm saving my money up for a proportional thermostat like Helix DBS!
Oh man, a home made incubator with a Helix *drool*. That would be perfect.

My DH really liked the sculptures the other day--but he said they wanted a picture of where it would sit? Like a job interview? Maybe they just don't want someone to sell it for scrap. Which would be a good chunk of change nowadays.

I saw that thread the other day. I just wonder if there isn't something to it. When I got the birds as chicks she was different from day one but I am like you on the vitamin deficiency thing. There is something that she does not get when it's cloudy. I give them tons of different kinds of veggies and fruits, bread, and anything else that a chicken will eat including free feeding their regular chicken feed. I use Purina brand feeds. Usually they are free roaming in my yard and then they have access to grass (I know you didn't see any but it's out there LOL), bugs, and the like. She is doing fine as long as she has the heat lamp or bright sunshine. Thanks for thinking of her though

Edit: I wanted to add that I put her back with her flock today. She seems strong and that pen has alot more sunshine than the pen she was in. She was very happy to be reunited with her sister. I do hope she makes it but if it is meant for her to leave us then I want her to be as happy as possible til the time comes.

The lady is sending me some of those eggs come this summer....The first lady who found them had to get rid of them, and the new owner has me on the "tester" list.

One more reason to get my bator running right!

Just FYI...

Stopped by Mesa Feed Barn (Mesa Drive/Broadway) and they had two little lonely chicks, all by thier lonesome selfs. Not sure what kind they were. I think they were yellow/whitish with llittle black patches. They didnt seem more than a week old. If my husband wasnt with me I would have bought them.

Again just FYI, they seemed so lonely.
