Arizona Chickens

No kidding, Nessa. He said it. I am just shaking my head.

On a semi-related note, one of the folks I am supposed to "handle/corral" at work is all up in arms about this. Her sense of professionalism is about that of a 16-year-old, despite her adult age. Politics, religion, body functions, level of fatness, office gossip.... I should have come to work prepared with a sedative and a blow dart gun. Ack! She is ramping up again now!

*fingers in ears*
Meow, meow, meow, meow,
Meow, meow, meow, meow,
Meow, meow, meow, meow, MEOW MEOW MEOW MEOW!

I do hair. I can only imagine what the next week is going to be like. EVERY body in the salon, stylists and guests, talk enthusiastically about politics, religion, sex and gossip.

On another note I started to build my coop and run yesterday. I can't wait to be able to give these girls more space. They are a month old do you guys think if this weather holds up I can move them out if I put a heat lamp in the coop for nights?

Also, I just left Mesa Feed Barn, no chicks until Wed or Thrs. just two roos.

*sigh* I miss the sound of my rooster. I can't wait for my little guy to grow up and start crowing.

Oh!! Did you hear that!? That is a sound I like - the egg cackle!! Love that little announcement, don't you!! Heading out to get the egg...

I love that perfect-for-a-grow-out-brooder thing!!! I wish it wasn't so far, I would go get it.

I miss the cacophony, too. But, alas, I have just 2 laying hens... Soon...

Hey, there are people moving into the house behind me. Is it bad that I am feeling giggly over the fact that it will be after they have closed on their loan and moved in that they will discover that I have a rooster?? Hee hee!!

We got our first egg this morning!
It was Phoebe, the smallest RIR. I really didn't expect her to be the first. Her comb is really small and kind of pinkish. The other 5 all looked and acted more ready.
Anyway, my daughter actually saw Phoebe lay it! She was so excited and I'm so happy about that!
It is a 3/4 size, perfectly formed egg. It's beautiful.

What did you expect? Now we have to figure a way to live with it. If they are going to gut Medicare to finance it, I guess it is time for me to look to the VA for medical care. That would not be much better though.

Both of my doctors are going into other businesses. One is already into real estate and the other is starting a medical tourism business.

Already I see advertisements in the "Jerusalem Post" offering tours and dental work. How much dental work can be done on a two week tour?

The people of this country are in for a surprise. I have seen IMSS and it wasn't the miracle people expected.
