I bet that they are the very same birds...who would spend that much money for a common enough chicken. On BYC...I could get a couple dozens eggs and raise some up for myself...............

Wow, when I first saw it I thought it was $50 for all birds, so that seemed reasonable. $50 each. Wow. Laying 2 eggs a day...hmmmm

Just drink dairy and eat eggs already....I agree...very funny

it is easy to find if you play on Craigslist at all...I find good stuff up North but we have some people that like to flag stuff up here so it goes away fast....

Afternoon, y'all! Just recovering from a bad virus, and a sinus infection. Really takes it out of you!

I had a little freak out this morning over the bator. If the eggs survived my freak out, then we are cruzin' right along. Tofu - what pics, you had eggs from Mahonri and Laree, right? Oooh, can't wait to see!!

Cluckin' - you are gold, too? You did some L.O.R.E., though, right? I didn't. Tried to, but didn't submit anything. Wonder how I became a GFM??

Gorgeous day!! GOTTA get that garden going!! We may put the little chicks out in the garden today just to let them out of that box. We have been putting it on the patio for them to at least get some fresh air and a view of the backyard. Mahonri - looks (tentatively) like I got one wheaten pullet and one wheaten roo from the first batch. Will have to take pics soon. One is just all light colored.

The other may be a blue pullet, but I don't know what a blue pullet would look like. More likely a roo. NO idea on the EEs.

Was going to get the dog kennel set up for them and move them outside, BUT I may end up needing it for my... broody???? Oh, I would be thrilled!!!! She has 2 eggs right now. We are leaving them to see what she will do. She really screeches at you when she is in the box.

Good luck on the broody!!

I really should get out and work on my garden... has anyone seen my motivation?? I set it down somewhere and now I can't find it...

It is the irrigation. You are so lucky to have it. Water is the key to a good garden here.

I am now "golden" also. I suspect it is an error.

Monhonri - Do you put the chicken poo straight into the garden or do you age it first? Do you ever put it around live plants while they are growing?

I just couldn't help but do the math. I can buy 400 straight run jersey giants for 527 dollars that's shipping included!!!

Or not. Either way, you all should take advantage of the GFM benefits while they last.

I came home to a hatched chick. The sizzle egg croaked, but the eggs due on the 27th are all pipping and zipping! The LF Blue Cochin extra hatched and was gooing everything up. So I snuck him out of the bator and gave him a "welcome to the world, slimey" bath.

Haha! I just named that chicken. Everyone say hello to Slimey.
