Arizona Chickens

Bat boxes take years to be occupied these days. There has been such a campaign to get rid of them, just like bees. Now bees are in trouble, giving Africanized bees even more of a leg up. I have faral bees, they are non-aggressive, they are welcome to stay. San Antonio has an attraction of the bats leaving at dusk. They have worked hard to cultivat a bat friendly city. Bat boxes are easy to make. They need a place to hange out, dark, in a cool or ventilated location, I can not remember the entrance shape, I will have to look that up. After I finish my garden, I need to work on my coop. If I am able to build one I will post it, if you still want one let me know then.

Just that you would offer is so sweet!! Thank you.. I am already saying yes to a bat house..
We are so busy it is only a sentence here..
Follow threw just won't go any where.. Our list is I think a mile long... Really... Plus with summer on its way motivation in the heat is gone..
Again girl you are so thoughful ;)

Thought I would share a shot of the garden, we use bird netting over PVC or we get nothing here because the darn birds destroy everything. No wind resistance with the netting so 1/2 inch PVC works well for us (unglued) Not as fancy as many but gets the job done for us. Bin in back is compost bin made of plastic pallets and boy do they work well....

Chainlink fence is to keep the pigs and hoards of cottontails out....

Said goodbye to 12 roos today. I didn't get paid what I would have liked, but it was enough to pay for 3 or so bags of feed. Can't believe the little buggers started crowing before they were even 3 months old!

You know it is funny that I get the same question all day..
Do the eggs from different colored eggs taste the same?
What about store bought, do they taste the same?
Do fertile eggs taste different..
I am sure ya all be the same questions..
Plus I am only a newbie, I can't imagine the old trimmers ..
Thank you for answering all of our general ... Questions.. :)

I have a three month old Aloha reject that I've decided not to keep, she's a nice, healthy little pullet, but I don't like her coloring, and I've decided that when I get chicks, I only keep the ones I like the looks of, otherwise I would want to keep them all :D
She's sort of a light partridge color, with a lot of random white specks, and should start being an excellent layer of medium sized, light brown eggs in a month or two. I'm asking $15 for her. If no one here wants her, I'm going to put an ad up on Craig's List, but I wanted to give BYC the first crack.
