Too cool! Do you go to the hospital or have them at home - if you have them at home you could have your midwife pull double-duty - LOL

I tried a home birth. It WOULD have been great, but the baby was forehead presentation and I ended up with an ambulance ride to the hospital where they manually turned him around...from the inside (gross, I know). It was either that or emergency c-section. He was STUCK, I tell ya! After it was all over, they told me that this is how women die in childbirth because when the baby is in that position, it CAN'T be born. Well unless you torture the mother. Which they did. He was blue and limp, had to be bagged, but he did start breathing on his own. He has no deficits from it, thank God, but I won't be taking any chances again. The bumpy ambulance ride while contracting against a stuck baby, after having been in labor for hours and hours was a cakewalk compared to what happened once I got to the hospital. I never want to go thru that again...so hospital it is. That was TMI, wasn't it?

Oh that stinks - what a tough time that must have been! My first was posterior as well but not near as bad apparently because he ended making it out that way BUT it was 2 hours of pushing since his forehead was stuck there! Thanks a lot kid! My second was posterior too but turned right before delivery. He was a little blue but was ok. My third was more of that perfect textbook delivery. I had mine at home - love it! It would be a bummer to have to deal with serious complications. At least you got to try it! I was just envisioning you in labor with a bunch of chicks hatching at the same time and everybody running back and forth between you.

What!?!? You mean you're not keeping track?? This is #6. I have 4 boys and 1 girl. Oldest is 7. I totally know what you're talking about with the 'mayhem'! And I think it's awesome that kids grow up with animals!

Yeah congratulation,
I wish I could have 7 kids.. We have enough animals to make up for them..
I told my kids we were going to adopt ..they rolled their eyes..

Just be careful what you wish for! My Mom started just doing foster care for my two cousins. You saw what she ended up with at 55 years old! Six kids between 4 and 13 years old. CPS is trying to convince her to take their illegal mother's 6-month old that she gave birth to after the latest kids were taken away. Without buying a new house and a small bus, she can't take anymore though. God bless those that do foster and adopt, though. It is not all fun and games, that's for sure.

Seriously? Your family pees in a pot and you sprinkle it around your house every couple of days?
No! :lau not around the house, the garden.
It all started when I moved into a cottage, the past residents feed the raccoons, letting them have free run of the house. When I moved in the first thing that happened was they destroyed the screens on my window, my front door, got into as much as they could, ate everything or at the very lest tasted what I had. I worked as a mate on a party fishing boat, Max capacity 45. Though my job I came in contact with very interesting people. One turned out to be a professional hunter for farmers and ranchers removing pest animals such as wild pigs, using several means. He was a guide, gave classes on hunting, tracking, butchering game, and wilderness survival. Maybe more. This was in the 80's. if he is still alive today he would be called a prepper, I guess. He is the one that told me what to do. Because I am a woman when not to. He dose it to keep campsite safe from raiding animals. There is no guarantee, a very Alfa may challenge, but for the most part you will come back to a camp as you left it. (This dose not mean you do not secure your food appropriately. It only means they will not come in looking for food from past experience with people). He has used this to guide animals to him, cutting off trails were the split so they will go right instead of left.

I just thought it was worth a try to protect your chickens. The area around your yard. Your family is a pack, the pack leader thing. Coyotes are not the highest in the order. But city coyotes may not be polite. I do not know. But it is worth trying with them jumping walls, snatching chickens with you in yard.

I'm good with the 2 I have. My oldest is off and married already and my baby is 10-1/2 now. Both are beautiful blond girls. They look like their mothers.
