I'm not, but welcome to the AZ thread.

I have a broody and I'm think about giving her a couple of chicks. I would really like hens that lay dark chocolate brown or dark speckled brown eggs. Does anyone have any hatching on the 18th or later?

Nice ta meet ya, what kind of chickens do you have? Anybody broody?
Quote: Hi,Just had two hens co-hatch 5 chicks. The rooster is a white americaunus. The hens sat on about 14 eggs but only three others looked fertile the others were duds at the start. The hens are 3 Maran's, 2 RI's one Americaunus that lays blue eggs but her eggs never hatched. THinking maybe the hen chicks could be Olive eggers. Time will tell. Looks like I may get some other hens broody soon but no plans to hatch any more.
Have 2 Toulouse goslings and some young turkeys right now.

Very cool, if you have any go broody and want to sell, or trade her let me know. I have some started pullets, some layers, and am working on my own breeding flock of alohas. ( see aloha thread for info).

Coolest experience today with "my girls"
I took the day off of work and spent the entire day in the yard gardening and cleaning up- BLISS :bun

Every once in a while I would take a break, sit down and put my feet up.
One time, I layed my head back and my australorp and easter egger both
jumped into my lap.  The easter egger climbed onto my arm and hung out
awhile.  I held her to my chest, talked to her, petted her and she put her head on
my shoulder for just a bit. Then she was done and ran off.  I must admit - I melted.
Never in a million years imagined this when I thought about getting chickens.
Perfect mental health day off.

Awhhheee, so love that.. Hey are precious..
