That chicken reminds me of the lead singer for Static X!!

Today we put in the really cool metal ceiling panels and threw away a ton of crud we didn't know we even owned. I crushed 25 pounds of calf-manna to try and save these refugee feed store birds. I had to separate my broodies from my flock today which was kinda sad. I gave them fertile eggs the other day which they really loved but then they got confused when they went for their snack today and saw the other birds had laid their daily egg. The poor broodies didn't know where to go back to. Problem solved though and they are back on track. I made a big pot of crushed noodles, turkey gravy, and diced tomatoes for my big girls to make up for disrupting their world. My little buff orpingtons pullets got black bananas and white bread today

and I gave the refugees some whole wheat bread but they are not so smart yet

All in all it was a really great day and now off I go to shower and get ready for church tonight

Edit: Did I actually forget to mention that I walked a mile today? Yes that makes 5 miles for me this week. I am soooo sore but I am feeling great. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers that I stick with this. Right now I am really excited and I don't want to give up

(If you have met me then you know how big of a deal this is)

nice to meet you too.

I used to live in waddell (not too far from whittman) There is a stock shop in waddell also if you haven't been to it. It was at Glendale and cotton Ln in case that's closer to you. I am not sure about chickens or chicken feed but I would assume they have something there. Its owned by a great guy Billy Chester. Definitely worth a look.

So Polish X Leghorns. Interesting!! It would rock if they looked like polish and laid like leghorns!!

Good night RedfogsFlock

Shaun

That would be so awesome if they looked like polish, and layed like our leghorns! My one girl gives me double yolkers every other day. I'm going to have to check out the Stock Shop in Waddell! I love em, used to sell my pigs to them. I'll have to find cotton ln I know where Glendale is, lol.

Sorry to hear about your electric going out, have they gotten it back on yet? Hope So! Posted pics of our babies for ya all to see. We also had a chocolate runner baby hatch yesterday! She was over a week overdue though, and we had to help her. We named her Fudge!

Well hope you all have a good night, I know we will!

Yea it only took them an hour to get it fixed. Much quicker now that we are in Glendale. In Waddell it went out often and was usually out for at least 3-5 hours.

Have a good night

I know where there are supposedly some Bev Davis black copper marans chicks in Phoenix
wink.png
She paid ten dollars a chick for them and yes she is going to sell them. Just don't know if she is selling them as chicks or if she is attempting to raise them up...ugh

Oh Shaun, be glad you dont get your electric from where we get ours. Dept of Interiors/Indian Affairs holds our eletric. If the wind blows, its out. We pay an arm and a leg to have basic services. If I run a dryer, it costs me $170 a month EXTRA! No joke. We couldnt figure out why we had $300 electric bills in the winter with no heater. But our water is real cheap (not drinkable, but cheap)

Sometimes I wonder if I am....after last night's mite fiasco I decided to super-examine all the birds. My two fav hens had bumblefoot. How'd I miss that? Neither has ever limped. Runt's was minor, but Nugget had it in both feet---one REALLY bad. Luckily (depending on perspective) the family had a 2-year run with MRSA, so digging out bumblefoot was in my "area of expertise" and not on the "ick" list. Also had to put down the final SS chick. A few people i have talked to said they had the same issue with hatchery SS birds. The chicks grow fast and well--and then croak at 16 weeks for no reason.

rough day overall---but I got a new poop shovel at a garage sale for $1---one of the fancy super light ones!

I also got an adorable brown and gold bee costume/leotard (with tightsand wings) for $2. You should have seen the DH's face when I told him it was for Ronin on Halloween--- finally I let him off the hook---told the DH he could get Ronin a tac vest and a supersoaker so Ronin could be a Killer Bee. The whole costume is sparkley--even the stinger!

Access control: Automated gates, key cards, the beepbeep thingies outside of apartment complexes.

I used to work for IEP--we did all the security & access control for casinos. Random thought: When they made Ocean's Eleven, we got to design the set for the last scene in the movie--because it was totally made up. There was no way they were showing the REAL vaults in the casino

My husband does the OUTSIDE stuff. Not the fancy-dance crud like IEP. He likes the designing & weldling stuff part.
