Arizona Chickens

You know this might sound crazy but my gut reaction is a bug laid an egg in a small cut or would that she had. Why on earth that came to my mind I really can't say. Have you tried to lance it or squeeze it at all?

An abscess can have clear liquid when fermenting. Lol. There is also the possibility that the abscess can't be popped with a squeeze. If it is one.

I think however it's very sore and inflamed? Is it solid flesh?

Hello Pastrymama, when I saw your post I laughed because I just started out with chickens for my kids to and I have no idea what I am doing! Hopefully we are on our way to becoming chicken experts! lol Best of luck!

If it looks pus filled to you then I would try and if anything comes out of it I would try and pack it with neosporin (without pain reliever) She won't like you messin with it. If you don't think there is anything in it I would still put neosporin or triple antibiotic ointment on it.

I'm still on for the BR, right? I've finally decided who I'm cycling out to make room for her.. I do NOT like that decision making process!

Anyone interested in athe following before I put them on CL?

Ameraucana pullet - 3 months - petite little thing that flies up onto your arm if she thinks you have treats for her

CM-looking mutt-ish roo - I THINK he is about 3 months but not 100% sure on that.

Actually, yes. Just a little though. Reasoning is that there may be something inside infecting...

Good luck?

It is not hard to do....I just did this with one of my hens a couple of days ago. Don't make to big of a cut...a smaller cut is better than a big one. I got something out that was hard and white in color. Then I packed it with corona(not the beer, LOL)--- a white farm antibiotic that is like paste this stuff sticks to everything without a bandage over it). I just checked on this hen and I am going to have to open it back up but it is much better and smaller than it was before. So tonight, DH gets to hold her and I will try again.

I also use this antibiotic on the people at my house it stays on a lot better than anything else.....

Here is another pus story for you Loree, but I kept it clean it really was a mess when we did it.

I had lancets here. I lanced it but nothing really came out it feels like a blister that has popped, kind of a loose pocket. It's dripping some thin blood since I messed with it, I put some antibiotic cream on it. On the plus side she's become very friendly to hold, once you pick her up she just wants to snuggle in.
