Arizona Chickens

We are ready to start raising chickens. Anyone in the Sierra Vista area have suggestions on where to get some pullets? I've called some of the locals and get voicemail.... Does anyone have some hens/pullets that need a home?

Not pertaining to chickens but wanted to share. Went to Dallas yesterday to watch my daughter get her wings after a 5 week course for SWA. Her boyfriend Pete came in a day early and popped the question much to her surprise. 2 exciting memories in less that 24 hours. Pete works for US Air and my son just got hired by them as well, Things are looking good!!!

Welcome to the world of non-rev flying!!! Sometimes it is the best thing ever and sometimes not so much...but it certainly has been wonderful for our family. Dh works for Mesa Air here in PHX. He has a really stressful job, but I told him he can't quit for another 5 years til we have lifetime flight benefits.

:th Where did I put that post? It isn't here!

I when to Pratt's, they had Silkies in. I picked up 4 straight run. My hope is by the time I get to Mo, and my friends house the chicks will be old enough that I will be able to have a good guess is pullet or roo. From everything I know about Silkies they like to keep you guessing longer, sometimes not until they crow or lay an egg. Some so not develop their comb until older, some Roos do not have big combs. They like to make sure that when you are totally attached, so it is impossible to process or part with.

I also hefted my bet with 2 EE's. Now that I have taken these measures, over half will be pullets. I am now positive I have 2 Roos from my March 13 hatching. I am 50% sure one is a pullet! the 4rth no guess. I want 3 but sense Silkies are so small maybe push it to 2. With 4 straight run, I should have a pullet. I got 4 straight run PBR and 3 were Roos.

Mary took the 6 little peeps right away. The timing was good. 4 eggs un hatched, she hasn't given up on. 13 total right now, and she seems happy.

Still nothing. I'm really not THAT computer illiterate. Even as I type I'm looking at the "Reply" options but no desktop that I can see. Do I need to be in a specific page first? BYC Home screen? Thanks for your help

OK. I'm using a Verizon Android 4G, your mileage may vary. If I go down to the bottom of the page, there is a 2 sided bar that says Mobile/Desktop. Click on Desktop. When the desktop version of this page comes up, go up to the top left hand corner of the page. you should see another bar that says reply/start new thread.

thanks but no thanks. tractor supply is NOT a good store for us.

Well, I must confess that the only thing I ever bought at TSC was a Rubbermaid 300 gallon stock tank to use as a sump tank for my aquaponics system. Kinda bugged me that I had to drive all the way to Benson to get it. They are building a new TSC at I-10 and Ina Road, that is only 10 miles south of me. I was told it was opening on 5-19, but when I drove by there today, they had a lot of lawn tractors out in the parking lot, but it's still not open. Had a sign out front that said it is opening 5-10, along with a pile of catalogs.
Browsing thru the catalog, they don't really have much in the way of poultry equipment, not anything I can't get at the local feed store.
