My Little Michael Jordan in action.

Hey! I'm part Scottish, too!

(I think that's where I get some of my loonier ideas! ;D
My husband is Scottish too and trust me he comes up with some very crazy albeit inventive ideas. I am good at canning and I have lots of animal husbandry skills. I have even hand dialated a goat before (yeah thats for another convo). my husband is a wiz at computers and mechanics and we fish and he hunts. :)

ok so I need HELP

my son found a little quail in the chicken coop this am. the parents were gone and it is newly hatched. I brought it in and made it a little covey with dirt, pine shavings, some tree limbs some hay in the little house i put in and a lid with water and a lid with fermented chick starter. anyone have any idea what else i need to do? do is need friends? I will get pics later.
any info is appreciated.

I thought about you as we passed through Globe! If I lived 30 minutes away I'd probably never get anything done. So you like the Salt River end? It's so verdant up there. We generally stay near Windy Hill, the bass fishing around there is always good and not so much influenced by water clarity from the intakes at the ends. Plus, it's a fun paddle across to Salome cove. It's so strange seeing the lake down so far again.
well Roosevelt is not my favorite place to be most of the time. The wind blows all the time and makes me cranky and it's too stinkin hot in the summer. Any more I just run out along the river when I need rocks to paint ;=)

But just down from the rafter's intake is pretty nice; there is a paved parking lot and bathrooms; no water spigot that I know of tho. But you can drive right on the banks and camp right there. I have gone out really early in the morning and been startled by a heron exploded out of the reeds.

I agree about the heat, it's just too hot in later June-Sept. We generally only go in the spring when water temps are 60-65 (pre and post largemouth bass spawn). If I lived closer though, I'd brave the occasional afternoon on the water in the summer. I've been to that spot you described, it looks like a great place for nighttime catfishing.

LIFE IS GOOD, AND GETTING BETTER...

For lunch today, I ate a hamburger. 1/3 pound patty of extra lean. Whole wheat sourdough bun, slathered with mayonnaisse. Topped with sliced kosher dill pickles and a thick slice of ripe tomato. Sound good? Trust me, it was great!

I don't have room to run cattle, so I bought the hamburger. Everything else is home-made. I am currently negotiating for a larger property in Avra Valley. A calf or two might be in my future!

The baby quail needs companions to survive. Look up wildlife rahabilitation , maybe there is somebody near you. I used to transport for "Wildthings" years ago, and the lady who ran the place told me the number one thing that killed off baby quail was being solo. Also, people would wait too long to get them to a rehaber.
Baby quail sure are cute though. I would be sorely tempted to keep it.
