Arizona Chickens

(hope I have the right one)
I found out I have 10 drakes and only 3 ducks (hens). We will be processing the drakes this weekend. I guess I better learn to cook duck!! and like it.

Once you process let them drip, helps get rid of the fat, or slow cook & use the fat for soup & cooking..

Apologies, let them hang so the fat can drip off.. Or use the fat for cooking or add to the dog food..
I have some good duck recipes.. We don't like to eat duck, just want them as pets..

Awsome i would love for you to send as much as you can to me PLEASE.

I will send you seeds. I sure hope it is the same tree. My husband and kids agree the pics look like the trees at his work

someone was asking about mold in their coop. i can only speak of my own experience. i use the deep litter method in my coops and let the hens turn the litter, the neighbor comes over once its broken down fairly well and composts it further to use in his gardens as i do as well. well, i hadn't cleaned the coops out in about 1.5 years, i just kept taking some and adding some and sometimes when it rains it floods but i figured it eventually dried. about two months ago i decided it was time for total coop cleaning. my brother cleaned everything out and by that night i had a sick hen. the next day she was dead on the ground. within the week i had lost 10 or so birds. i hadn't a clue what was going on. i am the biosecurity queen. it wasn't until a few weeks later that my brother mentioned that that night after cleaning the coop, he had a severe headache, high fever, body aches that all lasted for at least 2-3 days. it was aspergilliosis that had been released into the air as he shoveled out the coops that made him and the birds sick. the spores were down deep enough that they never got to them until the coop got fully cleaned out. no more deep little for me. what a shame. and totally my fault too.

I just googled Vitex and I collected a ton of seeds that look like this tree from my DH work. lol. They seeds were getting ready to fall and I loved them so I collected seeds. They come in a pod. The pod has 3 or more round seeds in it. I can probably get more seeds if needed although my kids just knew the security was going to come arrest us for seed thievery.

I have only had duck once but it was very greasy. I hope to find some good recipes for the duck. I want my ducks as pets too but i cannot have 10 drakes and only 3 ducks. my poor ducks. I had very bad luck in choosing my ducklings lol

Wow.... good to know! Thank you so much for sharing this information. I am going to stick with my sand for now.

I have had people drive here to get birds from me from Hereford, Sierra Visa, north of Show Low, Phoenix area, Mammoth, Prescott area, maybe others I have forgotten.

I know... I just hate to drive.... maybe next fall when I replace the old hens if you still have a big flock....
