Ok thanks. I put them back in the fridge and even boiled a few for the birds and didn't notice any difference. I can't wait til I don't have to buy eggs anymore.

Gotta find a place that allows chickens to keep that hope alive. Renting bites for that reason. Can't just do what you want. Anybody have any Phoenix leads on a small rental property for 2? I'd appreciate of you'd keep your eyes and ears open for me. Please and thank you.

I eat breakfast for dinner a lot. I was allergic to eggs for 30 years and then one day it was gone. Deviled eggs are my favorite and I would eat them during holidays. Adam's apple would swell up and make it really hard to breath. Then I learned that if I wanted to cheat once a year or so, to have Benadryl handy and it helped. Still uncomfortable to breath but my taste buds were stronger. Then one day I didn't swell up anymore or have any ill feelings. I don't know. Just grew out of it I guess.

I'm only good for 1 bag. What's everyone use? Looks like I'll prob get the Big Sky Layer as my girls are approaching 17-18 weeks. I made a mistake with the last batch of feed I bought. I thought the tag said 18% but it said 14% when I looked a few days later.

. I've supplemented with other protein sources but they don't seem to be to be meaty/heavy enough. At what age does the breast plate stop being so pronounced?
 
It has been 4 days spence last on line. :barnie :th :caf No time to read all of them. Over 20 pages...
Welcome new BYC members we are happy to have you. Great postings, thanks for the info on deep bedding and mold, wish I could be there and here at the same time. Have fun at the chicken party's (gathering of BYC to enjoy life). :woot

I buy from the Tucson co-op, and get the layer feed, and sometimes the starter if I'm raising meaties. This time I'm getting layer, starter, and turkey starter since I'm convinced I'll get coturnix quail at some point. I love the Big Sky stuff, but I'm glad I only have a few chickens to feed since I couldn't afford it otherwise.

I think the layer sounds right for your girls. It will be a couple of weeks before the feed is delivered. I can't recall when my hens' breastbone stopped being so pronounced...the roos I butchered a couple of months ago were still pronounced at 14 weeks and they were on high protein feed too. They take a while to fill in.

Thanks. Makes me feel better. Whenever you're new at something the tendency is to over worry. Me in a nut shell.
