Arizona Chickens

I'd like some please. What's the breakdown of order size and how much do you buy/use? Thanks for sharing. I love sharing the deals I find and thank you for doing the same.
The price you see is per pound. I am already at 10 pounds. The coverage is 2-3 pounds per 1000 square feet.

So, my broody BA that did not accept my 3 grafted chicks and pecked one to death, then threw the other two out of the nest has decided maybe she would like to be a momma after all.
After she killed the chick, I took the other two, made a brooder area in the front part of the coop, put the broody in a pen in the front part also for 3 days, let her out then she just laid right beside the brooder area day and night singing songs to the chicks. I have been putting her on the roost at night only for her to hop off and go right back to the chicks (she could see them but not reach them). Then last night (after I said she'd never get another chance to be momma), I decided to put her in the brooder area and watch to see what happened. It was like she was lying there beside them begging to let her near them. She pecked around a bit, the chicks climbed on her, pecked her and she didn't do a thing. Just fluffed up inviting them to come under her. So I worried all night and was afraid I'd come out to a big mess but everything was great. I let them out with the rest of the flock to free range this morning and the chicks are staying with her and she is protecting them. What happened earlier????
I grafted other chicks with success, but just thought this one wasn't going to work since on the second attempt I ended up with a dead chick. What happened? Why would she have rejected and killed the one? Maybe she just decided these chicks were better than no chicks? Either way I'm happy to not be raising them now!!!

Hey Everybody. I'm officially an East Sider now. FAR East Sider in San Tan Valley.

All moved in and unpacking now. Hope everyone's well.

Wow! I am so impressed! That was quick. We moved into a fixer-upper 6+ mo ago and we still have things in boxes. Between fixing up the house and 5 kids I feel like it will be years before we are settled.
I hope you are able to enjoy the new area!

Let's here it for mesa I live there to as long as your chickens have plenty of water and shade and your chickens will be fine

What breeds do you have?

Have not posted in a while but I am constantly lurking in this thread. Need help deciding. I have a empty pen, two incubators (one does 70 eggs and the other does 10) and an itch that needs to be scratched. But........ can't decide which way to go. I want a project. I want to hatch and then improve a single breed pen. Not as concerned about chicken appearance as quality of eggs. Can't decide between going Darkest brown, brightest olive, or brightest blue.......... Help me decide!!!!! :rant

Personally I like all 3 colors.. Since you first mentioned to improve a single breed.. Go with that.. Not egg color..

The BA that is broody and has the TJs eggs I left in the nest box where she went broody - dang cute to watch BUT I really didn't think this through too well. :barnie     The nest is about 8/10 inches off the ground and there's not much room for getting up to turn eggs, etc and I can see babies falling out of the nest!.      SO I am moving her tonight to her own broody pen - which I worked on today.  I'll do it after dark and hope for the best.  I put the broody box in a place where she can see out - just like her nest is now.  Food, water and her own space for babies until she is ready to bring them out to the pasture or the run.  AND its so dang hot - I don't know what she was thinking to go broody now!!!    Fingers and toes crossed for a good outcome - wish me luck. :cd

Keep us posted on how she did moving? Our girls get so upset when I have tried to move them.. My DH said he heard a loud commotion from their run.. Went out & sure enough Cheryl came off her nest of eggs terrorizing the ducks & anyone in her way..

Hi friends! After a bobcat decimated our flock last year we haven't owned chickens. My daughter is now involved in her high school FFA and she's looking for a show quality birds for the fair. We are most interested in Cream Legbar, Orpingtons, or Wyandottes, but will consider other breeds. Thanks!

Condolences from us.. Post up phots and progress of this great project..:goodpost:
