My poor old rescue roo was replaced by the new guy. He went to a new home this weekend.

Gorgeous bird's are you going to hatch out some of their chicks ? Please post photos of their eggs..

My sister has Delawares and they are her favorites. They lay right though molting and winter.

So what breed of chicken are these Trader Joe's chicks?  They are from white eggs?  Are they duel purpose?  I'd hate to raise roos and find they have no meat on their carcass.

Sill, They are from white eggs, so definitely not duel purpose. I had one come out with black spots so I'm pretty sure it was a California White. I also had some hatch without no spots which can happen with California whites. I ended up with 5 cockerels and 1 pullet who is the sweetest thing ever. Shes about 10 weeks old.

Will you post up a photo of her? Did you keep any roosters?

Well my broody and her clutch are moved to her own pen. She clucked at me a bit then went right into her broody nest wiggled the eggs around and promptly sat down.   I checked on her this morning and she looks like she is happy.  The broody nest is large enough for me to put a small glass of water and ice close to her.  I worry about her not getting enough water in the heat - so I've put together a little electrolyte water for her - much lighter than the other girls are getting in their water.  Now the waiting begins again.  AND I'm much more calm about whether chicks will be falling on their heads!!

You are such a good Moma :frow so fun to see the babies & Moma together..

Hey Everybody. I'm officially an East Sider now. FAR East Sider in San Tan Valley.

All moved in and unpacking now. Hope everyone's well.
Awesome! I don't envy anyone that is moving in this heat.
You might want to throw down some cheap plywood under your tool boxes to keep them from sinking in the dirt until you can find another solution.

Well looks like most of the votes are for Bright Blue eggs. So next question, Best breed for bright blue eggs?
Are you just going for color or production and size?
