Arizona Chickens

I am, thanks so much! Sore, not sure how well I'll be able to propel my wheelchair (when I was seizing, I fully dislocated my arm... it went back, but it's sore as all get-out now) but I'll live.

Ouch!

Well, it looks like I'll be at the Tucson poultry show potluck on Friday evening and I will probably be at the banquet on Saturday, but my cockerel won't be coming with me.  I entered him just to have something in the show and to make my competitor's birds look really good.  Picked him up to wash him this afternoon and discovered that his comb is a mess.  I'm not sure if the big guy got in a fight or if he's got dry pox.  Either way I'm not going to show him.  No one else is worth entering in his place.

The up side:  Now I don't have to worry about feeding him or picking him up on Sunday, which is good because I have to work over the weekend.  :)
gosh! Hmph! ...it seems like dry pox is still spreading through some of my flock. I wish it would just go away, the ones that get it their combs look sad! Well hope your guy gets better soon! One of my guys had seemed to have lost his appetite, but I didn't know if it was because it had gotten so cold..... brrr

Busy day for me today! Got to clean out the big pen, clean out the brooder, check the pigeons, get the pigeons I'm taking to the show out of there coops (harder than it sounds lol) go to work at three so I can get out at six and run my butt to the fair grounds for coop in!

Our bielefelder rooster is trying to crow. At least i think it is him. correction: our bantam hen "Claire" mot Cheryl, is sitting on 9 eggs.I'll let you guys know what breeds later when I get a chance to look at the eggs again

The Tucson poultry show is this weekend. Tonight's potluck is primarily for the people who are cooping-in this evening. The show itself is tomorrow (Sat Nov 22) and Sunday morning, at the Pima County Fairgrounds. Judging begins at 9 am on Saturday. If you are coming, use the Brekke Road entrance (on the north side of the fairground).

Well, my pizza rolls for the potluck are rising... guess it's time to go wash some chicken feet before we go. Don't worry, I'll wash my hands again before finishing the rolls. :p

shoot; the trouble with living by myself and so far away. Some day will hopefully have a chicken tender that can take care of things while I"m gone so I can come on Fri and stay till Sun. Pizza rolls sound yummy!

I'm about to finish up chores then start crating up birds; they will sleep in the van tonight because we are leaving by 430 am to get cooped in by 9!
