HATCH DAY!

I had convinced myself that all my eggs were dead, but when I checked the incubator this morning, I had 2 new baby Jersey Giants, and another is zipping right now. How cool is it to be born on Memorial Day?
In between checking on the chicks, I am making a 6 pound batch of coconut oil soap, and I think my lye solution has cooled enough, so more news later!

HATCH UPDATE

Still just 2 out of the shell, no progress on the previous zipper, a 4th has pipped. The soap is curing, just before the pour, I added 2 ounces of orange essential oil. The bars look like lemon pudding and smell like heaven!

Hi all I have a chance to get some lavender split maran chicks they have black feathers but carry the lavender genes which means they will lay darker eggs than just a lavender maran but have the chance to throw a lavender chick I have to let them know today they are asking 25.00 to cover the chicks and shipping they would have to be picked up here at my house

Yes someone already bought them I wanted to get some lavender Marans and the seller was telling me unless I bought the splits too I could not have any of them. So I was seeing if anyone wanted them.

@City farm I almost missed your comment!! I guess you are right, I Googled brahmas and sure enough, my leopard-face looks to be a Dark Brahma ........ roo. Which is sad for me because I liked that chicken

Anybody interested in a juvenile Dark Brahma cockerel? I really don't wanna have to eat him

I know it's hard, but the best thing is just ignore them until morning. Don't be tempted to take them out of the incubator while the others are hatching.

Yeah, that's what I've been doing, but I peer through the fogged up windows about every 10 minutes. I have been pulling out the empty shells though.
