Congrats on your marriage! The chicken palace is looking very comfy.Hello peeps! Haven't been on in awhile, been pretty busy. Got married to my Spanish girlfriend on the 28th, and I've been reintroduced to the "Honey-do" list. Also put new roofs on my chicken palace, and working on shade cloth in selected areas. Growing out a group of Ameraucanas and black copper Marans that I got from @desertmarcy earlier this year. The BCM roosters are gorgeous!
Here is a pic from last weekend of chicken palace progress:

Looks like he is enjoying himself. Mine ate the first batch down to the stem and roots. I need to refill the tubs.
You will need large bachelor quarters for all those roos!Well, what I have most of right now are some show quality black copper Marans cockerels (I counted 7 this morning). They are still young and growing out. I'm not a Marans expert, but these boys look exceptional, and won't be going on any dinner table!
My last hatch produced 1 black Ameraucana cockerel, another keeper, a partridge Cochin cockerel, a barred rock cockerel, and an undisclosed number of Black Jersey Giants. These are in addition to the 8 roosters I already had. Some will have to go, but I am waiting to see who has the best traits first.
Leave it alone in the incubator. It needs to absorb the yolk. If you pull on it, you can cause it to bleed out causing its death.
BCM cockerel on the left in the top photo has too much coloration on his breast. I'd cull him. Second photo, cockerel on the left is a little dark. He might get more coloration as he gets older. I can't see the others too well. Some of the AMs are missing muffs. Did they get picked off? That has happened to some of mine---I KNOW they had muffs as chicks, and now one cockerel has none. It's harder than anything to get good chicken photos when they are all hot.OK, I promised you all some pics, so here are a bunch of them!......
The first group are Black Copper Marans cockerels and pullets that I got recently from @desertmarcy
OK, here are some BBS Ameraucana pics, also from @desertmarcy ...
And these are some feed store Easter Eggers....
And finally, me and she who must be obeyed on THE DAY....

The black pullets are developing muffs and beards, as well as the blues to a lesser extent. The black cockerel and the splash pullet don't have a trace, but that could still change. What do you think of the body shapes on the BCM cockerels? (I know the pics are flaky).
We had some wild thunder and lightening last night - then a nice rain that didn't last too long but laid down the dust for a bit. Nothing was ugly muddy like I get in my girls' yard. The girls are now crazy happy with the wet whatever to scratch! Have a great day friends......
