Arizona Chickens

My first chicks of the year are due to hatch tomorrow. When I went to move them from the incubator to the hatcher a couple of days ago, I realized that the turner had gotten unplugged. And had been unplugged for an unknown period of time. At least two days, maybe a week or more. Which meant that two sets of eggs were affected. Since both sets of eggs had continued to develop I put the due-to-hatch eggs in the hatcher and crossed my fingers, hoping all would be okay. That was Saturday.

Tonight I went to check, and one chick has already hatched! Another has begun to pip. And they aren't even due until tomorrow. So maybe they will all be okay.

A really Good Chicken Recipie, which was a total expiriment for Superbowl last year, and My mom wasnt home, so I had to make a spicy cheese dip, was a Buffalo Chicken Dip.
so

GOOD

It Takes :

- 3 1/2 - 5 chicken breasts (Depending on Breast Size, the bigger, the lesser)
- Half a bag of Tilamook shredded cheese
- A full block of cream cheese
- 3/4 of a bottlle of Franks Red Hot Buffalo Sauce

Put ALL of this into a crock pot, and let sit for 3-4 1/2 hours on medium.

Half an hour before serving stir/shred chicken with one of these bad boys.
Takes about 45 seconds XD

After Shredding, stir every 10-15 minutes, and serve hot with Pita Bread, Tortilla Chips, Crackers, Roll up in a Tortilla with a bit of Green Chile, serve over Toast, Put it on your Grilled Cheese, ANYTHING!

(I personally make it, then put half in homeade mac n cheese for another time, and serve the other half at football games at home XD)

Latest chicken drama,
Desertmarcy girl "Molly" left a very soft shelled egg where she sleeps last night.. So today all the hen's were singing, "new egg layer".. I went out like 4x.. Molly was in the nest for about 2 hours.. Ugh.. Time consuming for me.. Finally I heard her singing, thinking she left a gift.. NOPE, she was just getting the nest ready.. Hay, at least she is no longer a free loader

I can't wait to see the color.. She is a SOP, RIR/amerucauna mix..

Duck drama.. The new layer, which must lay in the early morning, is leaving huge egg's.

2 new layers in one week..
@cyborg
Give us some recipes.. You are a great cook..

Love the story and SO grateful you shared it. One of my girls that hadn't reached POL yet displayed behavior almost exactly like your new egg layer. I honestly thought something may be wrong with her after her long stay in the nesting box followed by her singing yielded zero eggs. Now I know she was just performing a dry run.

One recipe I do to use up a lot of eggs!
CHILE RELLENO CASSEROLE

12 to 16 eggs
2 cups shredded cheddar (sharp!)
1 big can whole Hatch Chile's
1 16 oz jar salsa of your choice.

Grease a 13 x 9 baking dish, preheat to about 350*. Blend the eggs 'til they start to get foamy, then pour about half the eggs in the dish. Place a layer of whole Hatch Chile's on top, then put on about one cup of cheese and half the salsa. Add the rest of the egg, then the rest of the cheese and salsa. Bake for about 45 minutes, or until done completely thru.

This keeps very well in the fridge, just cut out squares like lasagna and nuke it!
Oh I'm going to do this!! It sounds wonderful and we love Hatch whole chilies --- and I just made some Serrano pepper salsa - -perfect! thanks so much...........
