Arizona Chickens

Well, got the first good rain over here this evening. It cooled things down quick. It sounded like there were small pieces of hail hitting the windows for a bit.

:yesss: I started lock-down last night on some of my incubator eggs. These are due on Monday the 17th. Hatching Chick.gif

Over here we got rain both yesterday and today and a 30 plus mph wind with even bigger gusts. Plus both days the wind was easterly instead of the usual westerly wind. The wind took our canopy off its frame almost - it was pretty sun eaten already. I have the canopy in the chicken yard so there is some dry spots when it does rain. I also have some of that man-made shade (shade cloth) and lots of trees and bamboo. But nothing that saves the chickies from that easterly wind! Guess I'd better get some type of vine growing on that side. Added to the list. Stay safe all.

I have to send my old dog out to do his famous rain dance, which entails a lot of barking at the sky...otherwise we won't get any rain :p So with our small break with the heat wave, I decided today was the day to move the chicks out to the big coop! We are officially outside, and I have officially reclaimed the utility room!

Doesn't it feel so good when you are finally able to get them out of the house? I have some due to hatch tomorrow, so it will be awhile before I'll move mine out.
