Arizona Chickens

Ok. I'll have to wait until we get out of Glendale.

I don't intend to stop breeding them. I'm getting old too, so I hope that my health will hold up long enough to get these going, so I don't end up like those who started them going. I'm already 61. I just need a few people who are interested in trying to help with this project on keeping them going.

You aren't much older than me. I'm so interested in raising chickens. Silkies for one and possibly 2 other breeds.

Well, you should read up on this breed and the colors of them, to see if you would even want to commit to doing this breed or not. Pick the breed that you want wisely for what you want or are looking for, and then stick with it.

That might be so, as a few months back, Kurt had mentioned that his wife had had a stroke of something like that. He may have had to give up the breeding's to be able to help his wife, and I know that he also had something going on with him healthwise too.

So, I guess it's up to us to help build this breed up like it should be. I am really excited that your grandson will be working with one of my babies and showing it in the 4H. We are supposed to be working towards getting the Blues recognized. There are so few breeders here in the states. The Blue roosters though can sometimes develop a red bleed in the wings or neck feathers later on after grown. The red is a bled from the Buff Orpington if they used that color of Orp in the back breeding (throwback). As you know, I also just had 2 chicks hatch out that had a bit of feathering on the legs or feet (throwback of the Langshan). Both of those types should not be used as future breeders as they will pass it on to future chicks.

I care about this breed, and I'm not charging an outrageous price on them as chicks. I try to be honest to develop a good name. That's why I didn't want you to have the 2 that had the feathers on the legs. If females, they might be good for just laying eggs, but not for showing or breeding.
but no matter what any aussie any color are the best wonderful layers..!! so if they would not be used for breeding they are fine for eggs..!!!

one thing i just read about silkies they have a hole in their skull, and if dropped on their head or pecked on the top of the head that can kill them in short order, so your silkies are the ones to protect.!

Dianna, I remember that you sent me that info on the silkies with the diagram about the holes in the head the other day.
